alloy v steel spur gear

Hi, my olde mate voo2 thinks he's solved my over heating gear prob but without a 48t plastic gear to try we're not quite there yet.

i've found a alloy 48 to fit my gear carrier on ebay as i can't find a steel 48 that fits my carrier, only all steel gear ones on there at the mo. will the alloy be to soft and buckle under acceleration?

not sure on a all steel as it'll have no rubber gromets to stop any pos transmission shock or am i being too carefull.:huh:
 
cat5 make a soild steel 48 tooth spur gear im using, i like its great no waer sofar far after amny tanks, but it useds the stock or fg alloy gear carrier and rubber dampers, next one i ould buy would be

fg make a alloy fixed gear carrier that you can use stock 48 tooth diff gears on this alos would be a good option, as you dojnt have to worry about damper rubbers and the e-clips comming off, today my spur gear was held on by cable ties
 
I've looked at the cat5 but like the link you posted they're out of stock and thats the same story everywhere i look.

Thats why i'm asking if an alloy gear is any good as its the only 1 i can find at the mo thats in stock which fits my alloy gear carrier or would i be wasting my cash on one, and shoiuld i go for all steel instead
 
I use the same set up as Benckie...I have 3 different gear set up's...
Python has the same gear set up..as Benckie posted....There are more than just DDM
for parts & hop up's....Try Large scale as well...or known as innotvative hobby....
Just my input to find that gear set up..slawhammer

Steel gear ordered, should arrive tomorrow, need race pipe then so i'm on the look out for that now then the race is on voodoo.
