I can't believe it. 6 years ago I pm'd Rob about importing a Redcat Rampage as they were next to impossible to get hold of in the UK-only as a Hitomo with zero support from China. Well a fair few years, 3 baja's and a Losi 5ive T (which I still have) later and I couldn' pass by a low interest ebay auction for a Maverick Blackout 2013 with a CPI pipe. Snagged it for £320 and thought it was a bargain.
I had to travel almost 100 miles by train to get it and asked the seller to dump the fuel as on public transport so didn't see it running. He assured me it was all good and electrics were fine.
Finally about to fill up / start and on a quick check I see a little movement on the head - closer inspection and both bolts are totally loose and old sticky fuel is all over everything close to the engine. The guy had actually been running it (so he says) with a loose head, mis-aligned coil (scraping the flywheel fins) and without a head gasket. This last one must have been at factory on the HY engine.
Well, I can see and feel a few vertical lines in the chamber which nicks my nail. Made a gasket and now all back together buts it's 10.30pm so a little late to try and see if it starts up. It's gonna be a loooong night...
Very long story short, my MT journey is highly likely to be DOA. Gutted.
On a positive love the build quality and cleaness of the design - love how quick you can take the engine out, think even quicker than the 5ive.
