So I have a HPI baja 5B SS Spektrum DX4C TX and a Hitec 5805 steering servo. The teeth on the servo gear are very course so with everything trimed to zero I can't get very close to center on my steering which forces me to use quite a bit of trim. But when I trim it pretty hard (right I believe) it seems as though it still has the same limit to the right but it doesn't turn as far because its starting from past actually neutral. that was probably a poor explanation. Basically -100 to 0 to +100 (no trim steering not straight)
-100 to +20(new zero) to +100 (with trim steering straight) but now I only have +80 instead of in + direction.... Does this make sense? Is this suppose to happen? What can I do to mitigate this if anything?

First thing you set is your servo/servo arm to get it as straight as possible using the servo spline.
Then you set your sub trim to centre the servo
Then you use your trim to adjust while driving.

People think "sub trim" means finer trim adjustments when really it should be called "pre trim" because its purpose is to set the wheels straight BEFORE you use your main trim adjustments. When you set your sub trim you main trims should be at 0. Its basically just to compensate for the servo spline not allowing the wheels to sit perfectly straight.

Thats exactly what I have done. main trim set to zero sub trim about perfect. If I need to make adjustments on the fly I use the regular trim. Yet still Have less travel in on direction even when using sub trim. So I gather this isn't normal? Is there some setting other than the travel setting which is at 95% both ways btw that could cause this?

EPA = End Point Adjustment adjusts a servo's left and right throws via two separate pots.
. The rate setting range is typically 30% to 110% and used to adjust the servo left and right throws
on throttle individually for linkage correction on engine

Sounds like you been there too.

The geometry of the arm & link to the steering wipers plays a role in this as well.

What arm are you using ? Length of the link from servo to steering wipers ? Any pictures of it or a video ?

When I get off work in a few hours I'll through up some pictures. The horn is one of the hitec horns that comes with the baja kit. its the only that has the course splines. Not sure exactly which number it is. Could I need a longer arm maybe? I'll see if I can get some video too of the full travel and what not too.

I was gonna ask about that, which is probably what I was gonna end up doing. Either way some picture of the issue. the first two is the steering in neutral, the second two is full left (full travel) and the last two are full right (limited travel)

In the rest position you need to move your servo arm one step to the right if your looking at if from the front of the car.
This should allow you to trim everything better.
I would definitely try that first before changing the steering links around.
I have built a few cars wit that servo and that is how they were set up & they work great.

Dual rate? I'm messing with it right now, I also just realized that my steering servo is moving left and right when I tilt the car one way or the other. What in the world could that be? AVC is disabled btw.

I'm not sure I know what you guys are talking about but in my tinkering I found that disabling my super be makes this symptom stop.... I know its not the bee its this damn srs4210 RX. AVC reeks havoc on everything. Has a mind of its own! Well I guess no kill switch for me then.

looks like I may be a little late but this may help someone else...
Disable AVC completely by putting bind plug in bind port and another bind plug in "disable" port. Then re-bind with receiver. Make sure AVC is also set to inhibit on your transmitter. Aux channels will not work if AVC is active per manual.
