Amsoil Saber Mix Ratio

Hi all. I have done a search on gas to oil ratio and have found many different answers. I just bought an xb and using amsoil 40:1. Is this to much? I see many people using 25-32:1. Also the manual said use 25:1 but many people at my local hobbie store said to run 40:1 or 4oz to 1 gallon. I just hope I not going to screw anything up with this mix. Thanks.
 
Sorry for being a noob on this. I have not tried to tune an engine like this before. I have about 1/4 gallon of mix gas at 40:1 left. On the next batchh I mix up should I go 2.5oz to 1 gallon?

Just to clarify from your post....4 oz / gal is 32:1 5.12 oz / gal is 25:1

stick to somewhere in between here, performance gain is prolly not worth it going with any less oil and will greatly reduce engine life.
 
I emailed Amsoil told them exactly what I was running and what the manufacturer recommends and they recommended 50:1 mix.
 
Nice. Haven't run 50:1, yet. I've only ran 25:1 and 32:1. Eventually I want to try 40:1, and 50:1. I didn't see any performance gains with a leaner mix, though.
 
whe you messaged amsoil they prolly said 50:1 because that's wjat most 2 strole weed wackets ect use not a hobby grade rc there's more of a load on an rc then a weed whacker
 
I'd start with the 25:1. You can try a lower oil ratio but unless you notice a performance gain why risk it? I'd rather have a higher oil ratio when running leaner tunes.

Guys do run 50:1 without any issues.
 
I do they do i didnt say they didnt i was just saying amsoil doesn't know enough to tell people to run 50:1 what if they told some that doesn't know what there doing to run 50:1 that could end up bad
 
I am into the Maxama 927. Started out in the hobby @ 25 to 1. After learning the engines better, I now run 32 to one. 1 - one oz of oil to 16 oz of gas. I mix small quanites, enough for about 2 tanks in a xb. Less oil will give the engine more fuel, regardless of needle settings. build more power, but ya gotta be careful not to run the needles too lean.
 
I currently run 32:1. I don't have any mess now that I'm tuned. I have not seen enough data on the lower ratios and engine longevity. It's different if you have the time to build rebuild your own engines. If you lean seize just rebuild. But if you dropped 5 to 6 hundred in a professionally built engine, it can make you a bit more cautious. I have read Eric from Flowsystem racing state 20:1 the engines still run as hard and last forever. Many different recommendations from different builders. I just stay in the middle. Hopefully I'll be OK. :)
 
Check this out. There are world class 2 cycle motorcycle builders that only oil the rod ends - crank bearings opon assembly. The rings- jug are bone dry. They say when the things are oiled up- first time the engine lights off- its glazed and will never be seated or hold compression as well as a dry assembly. They have recorded the compression readings to back this up. I have assembled top ends with the rings dry many times on 2 stroke dirt bikes. I did not record the compression readings.- They ran better- i swear!! Next engine build on the cats- or whatever, it gonna be bone dry- just a bit of premix on the rod ends-mains. --

Interesting! Going to try this on my next build, i've always used quite a bit of oil in the cylinder when putting them together.

That does make sense. I'm curious to see results. It would be best to build to alike engines side by side and make comparisons between the two.
