Hi all,
I am new here and new to rc in general. I am 66 and live in So. California and just retired last year. After retiring I was looking for something to do, so on a whim, I bought my first ever rc car. First was a cheap 1/18 scale and I enjoyed running it around the yard. Two weeks later I got a Tamiya 1/10 scale kit, built it and had fun. Another two weeks and I have a Dbxl-e 2.0. I am hooked now and really having a blast with Losi. My question is about aluminum upgrade parts. Which brands are considered high quality? Are there any I should stay away from?

you want high quality. vitavon. prepare to spend some money. atop. FID. hot racing. they make okay stuff. basically replicating the stock part in aluminum form. Vitavon reengineers the parts to be stronger and better out of 7075.

and welcome to the hobby! If you have FB. join the dbxle/dbxle2 owners group. you;ll find me and tons of other guys and the vitavon guys there

Thanks for the info, that’s kind of what i suspected. I don’t do FB but I will probably start now.

I just ordered some Vitavon diff cases off ebay and the bulkheads are next. Looks like that's the best place I've seen to get their stuff. It is pricey but if you just upgrade as stuff breaks or as you need it shouldn't be bad. From what I've read, the front and rear bulkheads, braces and bell crank are things you should look to upgrade for strength. Most everything else as it breaks or for show.

if youre in the US you can order vitavon parts from a guys that stock them locally in the FB groups. There's another guy in NZ that can DHL you parts as well in the group. Both are a lot faster than ordering from vitavon on ebay. took almost 2 weeks to get my stuff from china.

That's good to know. I won't be putting the diff housings in until I get the bulkheads to go with them anyways so wait is no issue. I don't use Facebook much if at all, but I'll look into it.
