Freshened this up yesterday- bearings-seals. This is a cy 35mm factory cut for a 30 mm crank. No 2 cuts are gonna be the same, thats for shure. This little engine has no copper base gasket. I cleaned all mating surfaces with lacquer thinner -lightly painted the permatex on both parts -then took both bolts to 8 n/m. - The darned thing still has 0.046" squish. Definitely changed the port timing. Will have to enlarge the coils holes i suspect. I would install today, but have to wait for clutch bellville washers-- Will it light off-run? Thats a real enigma! Better put my safety glasses on when its time to attempt to fire it up.

Yea, I have used this Motoseal in the past with leak free results with copper gaskets, 2 sealing sufaces to contend with. This engine will only have 1. Question is- the port timing. I will go to the auto parts store -see if they have loose wavy washers- the ones on the CY clutch appear to be the same as used on real cars with drum brakes- its worth a try ---

Hi all. I installed this CY 29 this morning. Heat cycled it 2 times, Then ran it. After 3 tanks of gas, its leak free. This Permatex Motoseal is used all the time with no gaskets on motorcycles- snowmobiles- ect- As for the bottom end cases on this 29, I did use a gasket, painted a very thin film on both sides of the gasket, let it tack up about 30 seconds- then bolted the bottom end together- lucked out, the gasket never shifted as it was torqued. Yea, I am still modding the butterfly plates on the 990s, This really helps these little engines.
