Just found this on JE Spares web site. Its another budget model and looks to be based on the marder but whether parts are compatible remains to be seen. I want it to be fairly good (sort of carson good!) cos I like the look of it and at that price would be ideal for my boys now they are getting a bit older but I know a used marder would be better

What do you think??!!

well for the price imo its all good.

Looks very similar to an FG under the shell, wonder if fg parts would fit it..

Obviously wont make a great basher but it will defo give those on a budget a chance to try out largescale :)

i know alot of people dislike clones for whatever reason.. i don't mind them at all, i welcome them tbh as like i say it opens up largescale to alot of people & it also keeps the top dogs on tabs so they don't have the monopoly & are able to charge stupid high prices! ...if it wasnt for clones, im pretty sure FG/HPI/LOSI etc would cost alot more than what they currently do.

In saying i will probably always stick with FG because parts are cheap & plentyful & thats what ive had since day 1 & find them simple & reliable :)

but yeh always good to see more & more largescales on the market :)

its not a bad price thats for sure, and as you say ideal for your boys/beginers,mate this v second hand marder i realy don't know i think i would at that price,a second hand marder can cost you half that to put right

as for the big clone issue i don't think its a big deal on a fg clone as there a basic and simple design nowhere near the hpi's more complex design, plus there a million parts stock or upgrade outthere so it coud be fixxed cheap if fg parts fit

it also looks better than the marder wheel/tyres look good ,,the stock marders look well dated now but there still great fun and can mix it up with the newer stuff

aye very true dude.

i think summit like that would make a good present & like ya say, defo good if you wanna get ya kids into it! ...even better if FG parts would fit it, then thats a big plus as when bits do break just replace with stronger FG parts (or alloy) :)

i cant see much being different to be honest if its like the shengqi clone on that its realy only the diff thats different or the splines on the outputs but worse case swap em for fg ones ect diff +output drives most thngs are just different shape ie the roll cages look different but mount the same and the tank looks different but if it holds petrol not a problem

looks good..nice price too.
As said it is hopefully good quality and therefore a good starter
even better if FG parts do fit..

As for clones I can see both sides of the story and my only issue with any of them would be quality.if any of them hold up then who cares..
If the original company has a problem with them let them fight it out in court...while we fight it out on the track or in the local park.

im with you who cares if there a clone if it means another bashing buddy its all good,,,not all can just go out and get the real deal,,,i couldnt i had to build mine from ebay scraps took me a good year to get a rtr basic car

Agree the marder does look dated but a set of baja wheels gives them a fresh look. The wheels on this are nice and the shell looks good too.

On the clone debate, I will get slated for saying this but there is a lot of snobbery around the HPI brand. You never hear FG owners giving Hobbypro or carson owners a hard time, they just give them encouragement to get the best from their rides. Im not for 1 minute suggesting 'all' HPI owners are like this but it does crop up quite a lot.......cue abuse :gun_bandana:
