If you have thought amount the Losi then you have the money to do a self build, i'd go for the 5B or 5T, Innovative RC do great Chassis/braces etc then get a decent motor/pipe and servos, the rest should come together cheap enough..this way you can make a nice 5b/t from the start without replacing inferior bits and bobs..
People seem to be replacing parts such as the engine and pipe almost straight away in the losi..

ya i hear you there both engines were brokin in as per oneil brothers break in procedures and i use amsoil dominator race oil. im just saying everything can be a dud .
i would stick to the hpi baja
I have seen the hpi baja and a clone race in the uk nationals (i am the race director)
and the clone was always braking and this included the chassis braking in half.
It really is a case of " you get what you pay for", the metal in the clone is really brittle and just snaps.
