I feel like eventually I would like to upgrade the stock $100 engine. I feel like the Taylor 50GT may be overkill for the way I want to drive this. Have any of you tried out the H.O. 46cc engine that Primal RC offers?

The 50GT is about $2100
The Primal H.O. 46cc is about $900

Just my opinion. Yes the Taylor 50 is a monster and unless you are upgrading the entire drive train....bushing on pinion, Longer bolt with nuts on v4 differental ,Taylor trans shafts, not the titanium ones....etc. You will spend more time fixing than running. The key is off power landing when jumping or any time the wheels get off the ground. I personally would just put a bartalone pipe on it, nkg plug, tune it and enjoy it. I've watched a lot of videos with the 46 and it looks like a strong engine capable of breaking parts like the Taylor 50. The down side is the way you have to hack the stock pipe to run the 46. You will be very pleased with speed if you play with the tranny gear sets and carb. I have a Taylor 50 in my grave digger and it is an animal, very high maintenance almost frightening to drive...... My other truck has a stock engine, bartalone pipe and a Amazon carb with adjustable low speed needle. The carb really didn't do much but the pipe did. That truck is very reliable and fun. Maybe consider enjoying your truck before you go wild with upgrading. Over the years I've learned that as you upgrade, vehicle gets heavy, dissapointing and a money pit.... Maybe look at my write ups to help decide. Your way ahead of the game with a v3 truck but must still address the basic issues with these trucks. Congratulations on getting one and enjoy it, there's nothing more special than having one!!!!

You make a very good point. I'll break it all down and do some tuning as I rebuild. I'll look into that bartelone pipe as well. I think there is plenty of fun to be had with the stock engine. I still can't believe you can get a stock replacement for $100🤣

Mick’s advice is sound.

As he shared, the stock motor with a couple minor tweaks, particularly the gearing and its … run it all day smiling…

Having said that, we both have a Taylor 50’s too and I have no regrets.

Regardless of your path, enjoy your very cool rig.
