anybody run without inserts

last time out i destroyed a insert,can i run without them or not,also who tapes them and can you tape around the inside of the tyre to stop them swelling up when on full lock and full power i can swell my inside tyre up like you couldn't belive to the point it will pop off yeah i know not to but it looks mental and its fun,ok if i need some new inserts wheres the best place and what ones do you recommend

Cant run without the foam inserts. What you do is mount the foam onto the wheel, then go twice around with duct tape. Then mount the tire and your good to go. The tape will prevent the foam from expanding at high rpm.

i have run some king cobra tractor tyres without them before and they were ok but were a hard compound and no different but the hpi wheel being wider and softer wasn't sure

There was a regular contributor who spat the dummy 1 year ago, from USA.
He mentioned running MT tyres without inserts.

One thing is to always ensure the breather does just that.

I like the idea of the tape over the inserts - read that before as well.

I have a pair of rear sand paddle tires without any inserts. I applied some Gorilla tape on the inside of the tires. I silicone the tires/wheels/beadlocks together. On the front sand tires I use the generic foam inserts. For me this combo works on my 5T.

My other wheel and tire combos have molded inserts.

i think im going to give it a try but im going to band the tyres inside with some tape to stop them ballooning up worst case i kill the tyre no biggie i want hostiles anyway

if anybody has tried it and killed there tyres please let me know in the next 30 mins as im about to start lol

scrap that idea theres no way it will work without the inserts i took them apart and removed insert and it felt wrong,,so ive put them back in with tape around tyre and insert much better they feel much firmer and i cant see them swelling now
