joystick controllers

So I have been looking at radios, some time in the future I was thinking of maybe going into helicopters. To do that I need a stick receiver.

Has anyone used a stick receiver on there trucks?

Just looking for opinions, in the end I would love not to have to by a second radio
When i first started out in r/c cars and trucks , that all there was ? turning was not as smooth and the pistol grip controller but it was also 1983, when i bought my subaru brat, still have it too. along with super champ, grasshopper(modified suspension), clod buster, all of my r/c vehicles, all had a joystick controller at one time.

Old thread I know but I could not agree with that representation about air/ground for 2.4ghz. 2.4ghz is a shared band to begin with. There are other devices that operate in the same band as we do with our R/C models. It does not matter if you are using it for ground or air.. 2.4ghz is spread spectrum technology allowing many services to exist in one band.
I myself have a DX-7 I use it for everything R/C surface including boats right on through to helicopters.
Hope this helps.
Chris.

2.4ghz has different frequencies, aka channels, within the 2.4000 to 2.4835 gHz band. A RC radio sends the signal as packets of info that have a unique ID that only the intended receiver can decode. This ID is set when you bind the transmitter and receiver together.

In this pic you can see my Futaba 4PK, and a Spektrum DX3 operating at the same time.

Hi all can anyone using sticks recomend a good set as 1 i really do not get on with trigger and wheel all that well and 2 the Fly Sky gt2 that came with my KM is beyond slow its majorly unresponsive and takes an age to react to any comands! Any feedback would be much apreciated.

Fatboy

that set looks as basic as they come..also its only 2 channel..don't forget third channel for kill switch

Dwarfy here recommended a set to me

Code Core RC 3ch 2.4ghz..

http://www.modelsport.co.uk/core-rc-code-2.4ghz-3-channel-fhss-lcd-stick-combo/rc-car-products/38217

not sure if thats cheap or not but looks good and has alot more functions than some I have seen..

The 3ch Core set has been good to me and has more settings than I will ever need :D Yes I would recommend it if you like sticks!! My kids have the 2ch Core RC sets (£35) for their tamiya lunchboxes & they have been good sets too.
