Anyone ever cut the tab that limits the arm against the body?

You know that piece im talking about, its on arm and sits against the frame so that the arms can only go down so much, and so the truck will only go so high. Anyone ever cut those off so the truck will sit higher? Id like to try it but i don't want to distroy good arms if its a bad idea. Let me know if anyone's tried it, and post pics please. Thanks.

It's not the arms that you will have problems with. The shafts and drive cups will start to bind. The chance of breaking pins and cups will increase.

that would help with the shocks but the straps are going to limit the arm travel as well so would defeat the purpose of cutting the tabs

I have FLM cups and phatdad pins, so far they've been pretty indestructable so im don't know if that would be a problem. hmmm don't think im gonna chance it but just was wondering if anyone has tried it.

Ya but you could have the straps a certain length so that the truck sits higher but still doesn't bottom out the shocks.

go for it, you asked so we are just telling you everything that will potentionally go wrong. its just like lifting a regular vehicle, it throws everything out of alignment and always has problems, Just my opinion

I agree, I think there would be too much stress on other parts and wouldnt be worth it. The hight of the truck isnt bad, plus the higher it is the worst the center of gravity is and would make it more top heavy and probably tip over more. Thanks for the info guys.

why not just grind the bottom of the plastic tab a bit to allow the arm to drop ,this way you will still have adjusters to limit the travel if needed .it wont take much grinding to increase travel but check the cups closely for binding and shock travel. I don't see it as much of a problem at all , the arm travels up 3x as much as it travels down anyway . Load will be greatest when the suspension is compressed with the power on ,not in the air with the wheel unloaded at 1/2 the angle. I think it's a great idea .this would be a great mod for the XSC also because of it's limited travel, I would not want it to sit any higher but it would be nice to have some more droop in the suspension for the whoops.

thanks Roger

Cutting anything off is a bad idea if it's meant to be there - and why put straps on when you already have something there to do the job - and better in my opinion.

The best way to set up your front shocks (once they are filled correctly).

Fit the bottom retaining screw then adjust the droop/limit screw untill the shock top mount will "just" slip over the mounting bolt without compressing it - don't tighten this up too much as the shock need to be able to move.

The rear shocks are different.

Fit the bottom shock mount then adjust the droop/limit screw so that the rubber cv boot won't touch your bottom arm then compress the shocker over the top mounting bolt - again, don't tighten the nut up too much.

Hope this helps.
