Just got my truck Thursday and followed the break in procedure. I have already had to tighten the head bolts on the engine, and the left rear control arm cracked where the sway bar link mount was drilled through. Also what engine temps should I be seeing? I set my radio to warn me at 230 but it is reaching that within a couple min and got up to 280 before i knew it and shut it down ASAP. Is the radio set to low or am I doing something wrong here?
I still love this giant though!

How accurate do you think that sensor is?
Hard to say I know, but they're generally pretty close.
Reason I ask is that 280 (F?) is on the high side.

Cracked mounts is another unusual thing - not been mentioned here before as far as I know.
Most change the servos and fit a tuned pipe, after a while but there have generally been no issues with anything!!

I'd check the carb settings as you might be a little lean, hence the higher temps.

Al.

I checked it with a temp gun on the first startup and the sensor is within a degree of matching my handheld gun. I am thinking the head bolts backing out could have caused the lean mixture and overheat. That was the only bolts I didn't check on the car when I took it out of the box. Almost everything was tight out of the box only a few screw that need attention. I have made a habit of checking the assembly. My LHS is calling there rep about the lower control arm cracking. It broke dead center of the bolt hole for the sway bar link. Not that worried about it I had him order a couple sets for both sides anyway.

never seen a broken arm yet. did you loctite the shock piston screw? and put the correct length screws in the ft dif housing.
i would say you would break a rim long before the arm broke. u think it was broke like that in shipping?

Ya had same issues withmy shocks also but other then tghat my Losi has been bullet proof, got 14-15 tanks through her asnd no problems.

I just saw the post about the front screw being too short. I am going to check that today. I have not used loctite on the shock screws. I haven't even made it through a full tank yet. I was going to run the first tank through it then recheck everything again.
I am not upset about it I was just wondering if it was common for them to break. I understand stuff happens. I think I just found a weak point, and landed at just the right angle to snap it. It is still driving fine just a little offset to the rear on that side.

Had issue during my second break-in tank with the clutch shoe material breaking apart causing my engine to stall. Since I installed aftermarket lightened shoes she's been great!

My motor temps normally run at about 70C, but it shoots up when the fuel straves at the end of the tank. Did the temps shoot up mid tank or at the end of the tank?

Motor temps were around 238f to 250f at mid to full throttle at about 1/2 tank. It would cool off at idle. I have gone a little bit richer on the high speed which seems to have reduced temps a good bit. I am still waiting on the rear control arm to get here so I haven't been able to run it much just around the parking lot at work.

where are u pointing the temp gun? at the plug? or fins over exh? when my plug is 145 F the fins over exh are 250f
