Just curious if anyone is thinking about getting one of the crazy engines that are coming out for the bajas? I was originally thinking I would go to a modded 30.5cc when mine dies, but now there is a 62cc engine, 50.8cc twin, and BZM has some 23, 26, and 28.5's coming out that start at 6.2hp for the 23 version! Who knows what else has yet to be released.

I'd like to go all out if I could afford it and get the twin, but you need the truck version, and it's very pricey!

$1650 for the twin package. I'm curious what the BZM engines will run.

there are some serious drive train upgrades out there. Phatdad 5mm drive shafts, for example.

yeah true, errr, i was thinking more of the contents of the gearbox, and the ability of the gearbox casing to support the strain and constant stress from its shafts. i think i'd be investing in one of those ali' gearbox casings! :w00t:

I would say 6+ hp for $800 is competitively priced. I am very curious what their 28.5cc specs will be. Maybe +1.5 or 2 hp for each engine size-up? That would put the 28.5 at 9 or 10 hp.

I don't think those numbers will be quite reachable but 7-8hp easy. Before you buy a modded motor you have to ask yourself what it is you want it to do? Do you want faster acceleration? Faster Top speed? Racing?
Until you know what you want it to do don't buy anything. OBR, DOGPILE,TS, Cat5, ESP are all good motors.
I own 3 skopod 62's and sure they are expensive but so is a reed case TS.
For hard core grunt you can't beat a 62 they are insanely powerfull
I have owned just about every motor type there is at one point except for a twin.
A good all around bashing motor is a 27.2cc full mod 4bolt zen.

BZM motors will be interesting because they are made so much better and have higher tollerances. They will be the motor of choice if they can keep up with demand and are priced appropriately.

flippin 'eck, i just went on to youtube n looked up those twin motors!!! they're NUTS! the car could stay in a straight line, hee hee... sounds good though!

Yes they do! I especially like the on road teaser one in the parking lot - sounds mean! I actually just ordered a full mod 29.5cc long block from OBR as it was on sale yesterday. I figure it's a good spare in case I need one until all these other engines come down in price, and up in hp ;).
