Cold, wet, windy St Helens, U.K.
This place is loaded with petrol heads so I'm certain I won't be alone here.
I didn't expect a 'classic' like last year, with Audi vs Peugeot SPRINTING 24 hours - ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!
This year was tamer, but Toyota took the game to them, for several hours. Didn't help with the Anthony Davidson crash - 2 fractured vertibrae from that tumble!!
Audis had 2 'E-Tron' hybrids and 2 'Ultras' - all 4 diesel based and faster than ever.
Amazed to see none top 210mph now - 30 years ago they were going over 240mph!!
More amazing, but in a positive sense is the sheer speed they take the corners - its like they barely slow down.
MODIFIED RACE READY Ferrari 458's look like next door's Fiesta 1.2 against an Audi R8 - almost embarrassing really!!

I found myself following it through till 02:00, then from 09:00 I was catching up on the recorded overnight action, up until the end - I must be hooked.

There's talk of much more interest for next year, before major rule changes for 2014. Sounds familiar!!

haven't seen any of it this time due to a busy weekend but went over there a few years back & it was amazing!! The Audi's were almost silent compared to the big V8's but sooooo quick and the night racing was something else!

Yeah, haven't 'done Le Mans' yet - never say never!!
The E-Trons had a variant of the Williams KERS - and it was 100% reliable.
Weird sound from it each time they braked.

Not quite a 1-2-3-4, but 1-2-3-5 isn't bad.
They did cross the line all together - nice touch!!

Don't know tbh.
True, there's obviously a lot of $$$ being spent by Audi, either directly or by corporate sponsors.
True also, there wasn't that much of a reliable competition this year - Peugeot ran them down to the wire last year and they won with their one remaining car.
There's mention of Mazda in P2, Honda upping the ante, and Porsche coming in for next year so we'll see.
It seems routine for Le Mans to have 'dominant periods', but I'd certainly relish another Le Mans like last year. If Porsche come back, it's definitely not to finish 2nd!!

Porsche getting back into it will be good. They will probably use it as a test bed for the future road going hybrids that are supposed to be in the pipeline and as you say they will be in it to win it.

You need to get over to see it tho Al its fantastic. We drove down on a Thursday and stayed til Monday as part of the organised trip from Stratstone Ferrari in Manchester. On Friday afternoon they have a parade in the town and there is every piece of road worthy exoctica you can think of. Run of the mill Ferrari's are common place and 911's are like Ford Escorts!! Think rarer, F40's, F50's, Enzo's, Porsche 959's (Eric Clapton was there in his when we went), Koenigsegg, Veyron's original GT40'S etc etc. Its heaven :drool:

Oh and did I mention the pit girls :drool:
