Are there any downsides to having a two speed over a one speed?

I never had a two speed Baja and am thinking on buying one...Are there any bad things about the two speed gear boxes?

ive always liked the intial 1st gear take-off on a 2-speed, then it kicks into 2nd n roars further away, great for blasting around on a field, carpark or whatever, but on a track they're not the best - due to corners, constant changing up n down to suit the track, excessive loads etc.. depends on the track i suppose really. i've found a link to a kit below, they look good, neat, not sure about their durability though.. it's something that i was toying with to fit to my baja one day, at the mo i'm still swaying towards keeping the single gear cos of the surface i run it on.
