Yes, should be. They are as hard metal. But needs to be setup correctly. I've broken mine last week (48t), but I had too much room between pinion and spur.

I'm now running 12s with 13t pinion and this 44t spur. Last night maiden voyage, did not have any problems...

Should be fine. Just get the mesh right.
