HI kids! Its Geezer! LOL! Anyways- There are several types of audio cds out there. One of the better ones is an hdcd encoded disk. You have to have a player that will decode this to hear the huge improvement in resolution. These discs will play in any type of player. These hi-end cds usually sell for $30.00 and up. In the bargan bins @ Wal-Mart these discs can be found for 4 or 5 bucks each.- Ignore the front of the discs, look on the back of the dics case. There will be a small area on the lower right hand corner that says HDCD. I have found these discs in other chain stores also.
 
Just giving the members in the states a heads up on a way to buy really hi quality audio cds for very little money. Audiophile grade for almost free.
 
Bouke G. A normal -standard issue cd player will not decode sacd, or hdcd. It will play these discs at the standard red book level.
 
yes. a few of do still use them. The red book standard for cds was and still is lacking big time. The range of cds is only 20- 20,000. A hi-end phonograph can do this-10-40.000+ - a few hundred herz. Yea, cds were sort of a rip for shure. 30 year life span-ect, ect. A modded hi-end cd recorder makes better recordings than the factory cd.
 
There are cd players out there that are very good. far better than anything else to listen to.. They have replaced all the voltage regulators with Isotopes, harmless. these are the same isotopes used in a household smoke alarm. Zero jitter! About 15 grand. The price will come down eventually. Myself? I am a tube guy. 1 Sov-tek 6h30 pi. in the preamp. This is known world wide in audiophile circles as the best device ever for music reproduction- Russian aerospace grade. - The poweramp is glass valve also- I assembled this with Cardas solder, German self healing caps, silver-gold litz wire utiliseing the golden section ratio. 4 Svetiana el 34 tubes per side. This amp is full class A up to 20 watts- then goes push-pull above 20 watts. I use Magnaplainer speakers-mg 12 qr-s. 2, 8 inch subs in each corner- 375 watts each. AAAAhh- maggies and tubes- If you ever get to the big city- Find a audio salon and have a listen. There is an amp finally perfected from the Futterman design. an otl amp- output transformerless!! Made in Canada, Atma-sphere. I bidded on the big mono-blocks- lost the bid.- some dude in Ca went over his head when the housing bubble started leaking - had to sell.- 30,000.00 amps- 15 grand each.- sold for 5 grand- whis i would have won that bid!!!
