i did the head gasket yesterday....now i cant get it to start...doesn't even sound like she wants to!!!!

thought it was flooded so pulled the plug las night and left to dry out.
this morning plug it back in n still nothin!

any ideas? im getting a good spark from the plug!

cheers

dip the end of the plug into the gas tank, install and pull it over. if it pops/fires up and dies out, you have a fuel delivery issue. if it doesn't pop or fire over at all, you may still be well flooded.

was the plug wet when you removed it?
sure you put the fuel lines on correctly? the intake line (has the clunk (in tank filter) on it) is connected to the bottom of the carb, opposite the primer bulb. and the return line, which just gets into the tank, is connected by the primer bulb.

have you tried a new plug?

tried all the above mate and still nothing.
and yes my fuel lines are correct :0)
the plug wasnt overly wet but was damp.

when i took the head of to do the gasket i cleaned it with wd40...could that have done something to the engine?? i used quiet alot!

im lost and frustrated.....i think ddm may get an order for a g290 tomorrow;)

try a new plug and the coil gap are you using old fuel ?

The fuel in mine is perhaps a month old. I move the vehicles around to ensure that it's mixed up well - as it can settle in the tank - (I know you're supposed to empty the tank some say !) - and once properly primed, they start first time. Shouldn't be the fuel.

Is the Carb on tight as air leaks here will cause it to not start too, have you tried spraying some wd40 between the manifold and carb then give it a pull to see if you have a leaking carb gasket.

Did you remove the piston and ring, if so have you put back the right way around.

yea jack the carb is on super tight..new insulater, gaskets on carb ...everything is exactly the way it was but with a new head gasket.

the fuel is a week or so old but it hasnt been sat in the tank...i always empty wats left out...back into the petrol bottle.

its been drying out since yesterday afternoon..if it is flooded (no pop when the plug is dipped in petrol) then how long should i leave it?
last time i flooded i took the carb of all night ...reinstalled everything the mornin after and she fired straight away.

no...i didnt touch the piston..jus reinstalled the head!

cheers ppl :)

have you had the high and lows screws out of the carb, and put them back in the wrong way round??????

if its flooded have you tried removin the carb and plug then turnin the car upside down and pullin the engine over about 20 times then put it all back together, put a new plug in rest to base settins the try and start it again?????

yup@everything charlie said :(
jus to clarify factory settings are 1 1/2 counterclockwise H and 1 1/4 counterclockwise L?

never taken them out tho pablo!!!!

i jus wanna kick it now  jus noticed that i obviousley screwed the carb on to tight as the new insulater is cracked tut.

sounds like your flooded/flooding out.

you say it popped at you, then the more you pulled the more it sounded dead.
what is your L needle setting?

Timmahh - i reset it to factory settings....1 1/4 turns counterclockwise from closed

charlie i think i only did this today whilst tightening everything up..im not 100% sure. for arguments sake lets say this part is fine, is there anything else it could be??the carb is fine...compression seems ok.]]

thanks
