HI, I everyone I have a FG Baja and thinking of taking it to my local 1/8 scale offroad track next week (track said I could) and Just run for fun by myself in hopes toget others into 1/5 or 1/6 instead of 1/8 :) But I was wondering if the HPI baja 5t truck would be better for the jumps vs the FG baja?
Anyone know? I may want to trade my FG baja for a 5t if that is the case.
thanks

I've owned a 5B and have ran against tons of 5T's and I would have to say my FG Baja 4x4 out jumps those cars with ease. The FG aren't really better jumpers. I think the HPI's actually have a better suspension with the longer shocks and aftermarket shock support (phatdad and DS) but the FG will win hands down since you can control them in the air.

Since the engine is flipped around on the FG, the engine actually compliments the acceleration/decelleration of the tires which let's you have air control more like a 1/8 buggy truggy. The engine setups on the HPI's, Redcats, Smarttech, Nutechs, etc, counteract the rotating mass of the wheels which leads to unpredictable pitch coming off jumps.

Hmmm

Hmmm never that of the engine that that before. Does the 5t have just as much speed and power as the stock fg baja 26cc ? I knid of like the looks of the 5t and was thinking it might jump better with the long stocks. I don't know yet though sould I keep my fg or trade for a 5t. thanks

Go with whatever you like best. One more word of advice about the HPI's is that there's alot of crap in the way of pulling the engine. I hated to work on mine since everthing is tied to the engine. I've even broke a DS billet crankcase from a crash because of that. I have at least 3 broken crankcases and/or fanshrouds sitting on my shelf courtesy of my Baja. The newer engine/fanshoud braces definetely help solve the problem though but that's even my crap you gotta take off to maintenaince the engine.

I've owned both and i like the 5B better then the FG. Hands down i found the 5B to handle jumps better due to the suspension travel. The FG was fast and all, but more of a track car for my personal taste.

That's cause you didn't put shocks on like these. Those are Ramtech 5b springs. I got GH piggybacks from the Baja going on them tommorrow as soon as the mail arrives.

No doubt HPI has put out a great product which has great aftermarket support.

Do you have a link to your ebay listing? I wouldn't mind taking a look at it.

I own both a 5t and FG Baja (before and after the 4wd upgrade).
I found the FG more durable but MUCH!!! harder to get parts for when I did break something.
I like driving the 5t much more because I get more of a scale feel from it.
I am seriously considering selling the FG Baja (I bought if from AK[zip] a year ago] I upgraded it to 4wd last summer when the upgrade came available.
