Lets see what kind of damage you have done to your baja's

Here is what I did today

I hit a tree :(

& destroyed 2 tarmac tires. Guess I gotta start saving up for some parts

Defo looks like the tree won mate!!

Sorry for that - bet you had great fun up until then, anyway, so not too bad.

Each time we bend/break something, we always call it 'hop up time' !!
Good job, just the same - some energy there!!

Al.

Funny thing is it wasnt even going that fast when it hit the tree. What would you guys recomend for a stronger chassis & top plate? I was looking at HPI parts but I am also looking at cf parts too, but they are so expensive. Also what are some good on road & off road tires that won't shred as easily? One of the tires was brand new, I just put it on the other day & this was the first time I've run on it & both tires were HPI tires. I have never gone thru tires like this on my savages even when I was running the baja's on my ERCM Savage XL.

There's always the classic thinking that:

1. A smash is a perfect opportunity to upgrade.
2. Every time I upgrade it must be alloy or carbon fibre.
3. I must make everything as solid as possible - that way my ride is 'bulletproof'. ....

This is where the problem lies. I'm as guilty as anyone here for alloy and CF hop-ups, so no excuses!!
The 'intelligent' modeller/racer decides which parts to 'sacrifice' to save other parts - generally best to be the cheapest parts as well.
A classic one is to maintain plastic rod ends, for example.

Basically I'm suggesting that if you're 'happy' to throw money at your ride, it's best to consider where?, what? and why?

Easier said than done, I know!!

If I decide to go with cf plates, what is a good company to go with & what about their durability? I don't usually mind spending a little extra coin on upgraded parts as long as it is of good quality & will be stronger than stock replacements. Kinda like how I went with rpm arms off the bat b4 the stocks even had a chance to break. I do see rpm bumpers in my future tho.

I would def go with the x2 kraken chassis. You can dye it and it has a limited lifetime warranty!! Ran mine for the last 1.5 months with no problems, although I haven't had any hard hits with it. I def worry a lot less about it now!!!

Wow that looks pretty stout! Definately looks stronger than aluminum or cf.Thanks for the info, it makes my search a lot easier now that I don't have to & the price is decent too. lol Now what about the front upper plate & some tires?

Well as you can see from my other post I toasted another tarmac tire, but Also did more damage yesterday. Now I need to buy a new transmission plate, brake pads, rear bumper & shock caps. The transmission plate cracked by the disc brake slot. The screw between the cb & inside brake pad came loose putting pressure on one side of the side pad causing it to wear unevenly on the the one side. The bumper bent when it slid backwards into a pole(but that happened before & my friend took it to work to straighten it but it still doesn't fit right. And the hoop on one of the shock caps broke. this thing is a money pit. lol Once again these were all parts I planned on replacing, justvnot this soon. I guess she will sit on the shelf for a few weeks until I can save up some money for the new parts.
