Hi guys, got a quick question. I got an extra motor for my baja, it's very hard just to try and pull start it, seems like the flywheel doesn't want to move. The engine is in great shape, I just can't figure it out, I'm a newbie, would appreciate Any advice. Thanks Steve

Does it move in one part of the rotation and is 'binding' in another?
Might be the ignition unit badly adjusted on the flywheel.

Does it have a clutch / clutch housing?
Might be a broken / worn spring.

Removed spark plug, tried pulling still very hard to pull, I pushed the piston down and turned flywheel by hand it went smooth at first then got hard to turn again.. Could it be the magneto not spaced right?

I would pull the flywheel cover and make sure there is an air gap between the mag and the flywheel. It should be a small gap, I gorgot how many thousandths it should be, but something like two shhets of paper.

Make sure everything else looks good inside that area, nothing weird going on.

Next, turn the flywheel by hand in both directions, check to see if the clutch bell is turning, if it is, it could be the pinion screw has come loose and the clutch shoes are making contact with the inner face of the clutch bell.

Keep the spark plug out during this testing. Spark plug stays out until you determine what exactly is causing the issue.

Yep sounds like coil gap is out, use a business card to gap it out...put a couple drops of oil down the plug hole too, you don't want to have a dry piston scratching the cylinder without any lub..

Thanks guys!! The coil gap was the problem on both my motors!! This forum is the poop!!! I'm learning a lot!! Now if I can only figure out how to upload pics from my phone... It won't let me for some weird reason? Thanks guys for your help!!!!:D
