baja shock gaters

just been checking my shocks after a hard days bashing with my sq baja, only to find the shock shaft gaters a bit worse for wear:no: had some 20mm road bike inner tube that hyperpete gave me,so made 4 new stronger gaters out of it, here,s some pics.

Them stock gaiters are really thin rubber and do rip easy. But inner tube rubber is way stronger. SWEET !! :laugh:

How much does it affect the movement?
During compression, I can imagine the thicker tubing will resist this to some extent.

I gave up on even checking mine anymore. They seem to pinch and wear holes in them all the time if not covered. How did you get the bottoms to stay?
You can also wrap the entire shock with a tube for protection.

it don,t affect the travel of the shock at all, the standard ones are crap and rip in no time,
