now before any of you KM people think oh my clone would survive that.. do one, as me & a mate had a discusion, no clone could do what my HPI BAJA 5SST did & come off the same, it would have gone to confetie END OF :cup-1:

floored it went in to second & topped 70 i took my eye off it & hit a railway sleeper being used as a border! it split the sleeper & wood went FLYING it removed a very VERY big chunk out the sleeper  i thought my baja was totaled & it was the end, but it was still running so i drove it back with a VERY VERY wonky wheel & sawdust every to my utter amazement this is the ONLY DAMAGE, & im still picking the wood out from behind the flywheel :w00t:

pratically split the wheel in half

smashed the flywheel cover in

SCRAPPED my lightend now more so flywheel

and removed the bottom of my pullstart

last but not least & this is where my jaw hits the floor NO DAMAGE TO THE BACK END WHATSOEVER! bearing in mind the back wheel is destroyed

it doesn't get any stronger than that HPI ALL THE WAY BABY :cup-1:

please note...

i am selling the 5t kit & 3 wheels minus front bumper & shell :w00t:

hell my genuine baja would have been confetti just hitting a curb at idle, i say this because my genuine baja breaks parts turning around in a wide open football field (doesn't anymore but it took me over 2k in aftermarket parts to get any quality out of it). now i am fighting with the engine trying to figure it out, got it running today but it spits oil out of the exhaust at idle and i already have the low end needle as low as i dare as per hpi instruction manual (maximum of 1/4 closed from factory setting) which is where it is at right now at 1 turn from closed. the way it takes off i may be able to open that setting up a little more since it seems to be ok in that area also. however i am wondering if my high speed is the cause of teh spitting oil, and if there are some changes in tuning i need to look at due to running an ada intake manifold (little thinner than stock plastic) and the phatdad shreadstack.

HEHE, There all the same.... I own both and they all brake... But I think I have put more money in the HPI and had less running time with it. My KM has more up grades but cost less.. Every hit is different.. You got off lucky on this one... My day at the skate park was bad for the HPI.. But good for the KM.. Three weeks ago it was a good day for HPI but bad for the KM at the motorcross track.. Every dog has it's day...

what do you mean how well its built? mine is also an ss and i know i assembled it right but it still fails and i have yet to actually get to do more than some donuts in the front yard, every time i take it out to the football filed, park, or the epty dirt field and try and do some serious running/bashing it makes it through no more than a half of a tank of fuel before it is broken (genuine baja 5Bss BTW).

i understand ALL manufacturers have some percentage of failures however, when you get a lemon that you pay 800.00 + for the kit, can never get more than a half tank at a time, requires 2k +in aftermarket parts in the first 6 months with very little running, have more down time than up something is seriously wrong (WTH did ford make the baja and hpi copy it, or did ford make the baja FOR hpi)

you must have bought a lemon, only bits i have broken on it is the above, 2 spark plugs & 5 pinion bolts, flywheel as i had stone in there! really about it & 1 shock tower but that was my own fault for throwing it lol
and i thrash my baja very hard & launch it in the air Frequently, theres a bloke on here that i bash with & he is just as rough with his, never broken anything when ive been there!

Sussex Bashers FTW & TWF! :cup-1:

I feel ya... That's a lot of money for what your getting out of it.. What parts are you breaking? All the HPi's and Clones break about the same! Are you having engine problems or are you having just breakage like A-Arms? HPI makes nice A-Arms.. On mine i use RPM's A-Arms they seem stronger.. On my KM i went all metal.. It's a BEAST....Hate to say it put how is you driving skills? When my son drives he normaly breaks the HPI buggy... But we get a good laugh out of it.. I don't let him drive the KM yet because of all of the metal in it. I hope you get it all worked out and you can enjoy the hobby... It's great once they run good.

nah i have had to replace shock bodies clutch shoes, arms, axles, dogbones (i have pics of how these failed still however if anyone would like to see them, the dogbones actually failed the first time on the first 1/2 tank after break in and i went through 2 sets in a total of 1 tank put on flm cvd's and the problem has been solved). teh rear upper plate was slightly bent out of the box which i straightened and used until i could get a tr unit. when i pulled th erear upper plate off it was slightly warped again. front shock tower cracked at one of teh screw mount locations, rear tires went bald within the first full tank of fuel running on hard dirt (although fronts are still fine)stinger pipe gasket blew out, stock steering links bent trying to turn it around and kept popping off while at the same time breaking the output shaft on the stock sfl-10mg servo ( i could go on but i don't feel like writing a book )

anyway at first hpi was really good in terms of support but then (assuming because i had contacted tehm so many times) started being less willing to help which at that point i because so frustrated i severed ties with hpi and will NEVER purchase another hpi product which is a shame because there were a couple of items i was looking at which i lost all interest in after getting the shaft on this lemon of a baja.

i will look to see if i have any pics left of the failed parts that i took for hpi, i had asked them if they would like me to send the parts to them for eval and when they said no i threw them out and now they want me to send teh parts in which is impossible since i no longer have them.
