I have a maverick Blackout, the Euro equivlant of a rampage Mt, i just fitted baja 5t tarmac buster rear wheels all round, with UberRC baja extended hubs, my truck has the 30cc engine and 8,000rpm clutch spring.

i use my truck at my local onroad r/c racetrack (brookland raceways)

at the moment my truck is topping out instantly with ease, due to the smaller baja wheels(i do have the steel torque gears fitted at the moment aswell, work really nice with the moster truck wheels) does anyone know a good gear set up with these wheels for track use? i still wanna keep the punch out of the corners, but i really need a better top speed (i can go round the the whole track full thottle apart from 1 hairpin, to put it into porspective)

cheers

I use the TT gearing on most all tire/rim set up (A-31 steel) (B-29 plastic) (C-25 steel) (D-25 plastic) gives nice all around power for me.

Tire/rim sets I have ran with this gear set up are

Proline bowties

HPI 5T sand busters

stock TT tires

BRP street tires

and stock MT tires <- (not as much punch but lots of top speed)

Running a 4-Bolt Modified/ESP CHAMPIONSHIP PORTED Zenoah 30.5cc with DDM Dominator side pipe

Reverse the gears might bog down a bit at low end and top end will be really fast. I have 26cc so low end is slow. But 30cc will do the job.

cheers for your help everyone

i think im gonna go for 31/29, if i find that the gearing is to steep i can always swap them around to 29/31 if im not mistaken? (unless gears bond themself to the ally holders like normal)

can i ask why u alternate metal and plastic gears?

I think it keeps the temps down but not sure. I have had the same set of gears for almost a year and they still very close to new.

Plastic and metal combo works TREATS!!! TOP TIP!! thanks very much :D

i brought a high speed metal gear set (the ratio you said) and when i fitted the gears, i ran less then 1/4 a tank, i could hear somthing wasent right, so i brung my truck in and saw it was covered in metal fillings, when i checked the gears they had been chewing themselfs APART! and lets say i was  basicly everyone at the track told me to send them back as tht shouldnt happend in a few laps.

After i fitted A. 35(plastic) B. 25(metal) C.25(plastic) D.25(metal) basicly swaped around my torque gearing, and hey presto! the gearing was a little steap but it worked really well! very good top speed when it got there, and accelration wasnt to bad i suppose.

I ran the rest of the weekend with this gear set up, and ALL the gears, plastic and metal still look good as new!!! :D

i had a WICKED time at track this weekend, it was basicly all just baja's there and a few fg touring cars.

With exellent driving periods i could keep up the pace with the bajas(these bajas r bloody fast, most r fully ported engines+pipes), id catch up with them big time in the corners as there always fighting there back end, and i could just MAJORLY outbrake them, then power tho the corners, but when it came to the straights, the baja's would pi$£ all over me with there accelration.

I don't think any1 had seen a Blackout in the flesh before, and all the guys that came and spoke to me said they were really impressed with its handling!

Not bad for a "not far off stock" car :) all ive done is fitted the wheels and hubs, 8k clutch spring, and i fitted a Baja 5t high flow muffler i brought off one of the guys there, as they proved to me its better then all the silver slugs the other bajas where carrying around, and it did make a massive diffrence! i was impressed
