The receiver and servos can't handle that high of voltage.
 
If you get something to reduce the voltage like a bec you can run anything that can fit. I put a7.4v lipo with the bec set at 6v and it works
 
I should mention the factory servos would be short lived if ran higher than 6.6v
 
Can you run a battery made for baja 5b on the MT? I noticed that the baja battery has two connectors. One like the MT bAttery and one like your normal standard battery connector. I want to get 5000mah battery 6v. Who has them for the MT?

Yes you can run the 5000 mah Baja batterys. That extra connector is just your Charing port. Can leave in radio box or make a cutout in radio box to charge with pack in truck
 
You will have to either change the switch or the plug on the switch to the futaba style. NBD Easy to do.
 
@ RCDad Does anybody sell a 5000mah for the MT? Just curious. If not do I have to solder the futaba connectors? Sorry I'm still a noob when it comes to this stuff. The hpi connectors on the their battery look similar to the redcat stock battery but I'm assuming they are not since you mentioned to change the connector to a futaba connector. I'm sure I can pick up the connector at local hoppy shop! If I could just buy one for MT of rather go

route.
 
The packs wearing the HPI do have a similar plug most of the aftermarket packs have the futaba style. You can find the DDM packs on sale from time to time for really cheap. If you replace the power switch with one that comes with the futaba switch you won't have to do any soldering. The power switches are very inexpensive. They do wear out, so its just easier to go futaba style plugs.

Or just do what I did... Run the charge lead out the slot for the servo leads. Try to keep it away from the front dogbone going to the center diff though. :eek:
