bearing failure inside front gearbox

i noticed a grinding noise inside the gearbox like if there was a broken teeth and after looking closer i noticed a little play in the drive cup... and when i opened the gearbox this what i saw:

hard to believe... the bearing was desintegrated... still trying to figure what happened!
 
Spectacular! I have yet to pull that off. Mooman's got ya topped though with an exploded diff and diff case from hell LMAO.


Well at least we know the gears are good in the diff. They still look brand new despite chewing up some bearing steel.

I found some ceramic bearings and they take more heat . Pricey but man did they light up my Rampage I had to get from three different vendors think total they were around $350 but man the power gain was unreal. I now only have one regular bearing in whole truck rest are ceramic.
 
After several days of thought I now firmly believe that there was no bearing at all and I simply did not noticed it before my first run. They must have poor quality control in China because i just noticed that one of my rear shock body was in fact a front one. Anyways, yesterday I cleaned my gears with varsol, dried with compressed air and re-lubed everything. I also bought Vertigo's sealed bearings kit for the gearbox and HPI baja 6mm front shock shafts. I rode for one hour tonight and everything was fine except for the two beadlocks ring that broke.
