First off I’d like to THANK everyone for their help on all my problems past and present you guys are grrrreat. My question this time is that I see on rc pitstop they have a belt drive for 99 bucks that doesn’t come with a gear plate but the mt isn’t listed as one of the things that it fits. The one they have listed for the mt is 206 bucks. My mt came with the aluminum plate so can I use the 99 dollar one or do I have to change the plate for some reason? Thanks one of these days I’ll get around to the introduction page thing is I hate typing.

The MT has a different clutch bell and first & second way shafts. They are used for the 4pin gears. Because of this the MT also uses a different gear plate. That plate won't work with the other shafts.

The MT kit is more because it includes all the parts to convert it to the other drive system. It includes a new clutch bell, first and second way shafts, gear plate with upgraded bearings, as well as the belt drive kit.

Hope this help to clear things up. :)

If you have the 4 pin setup, you need the $200+ kit. If you have the square drive setup, get the $100 kit. Simple as that.

I wish I could say I knew the difference between the square drive and the 4 pin. My mt is only a couple months old and I bought it the day the hobby shop got it in so it's most likely the latest version. I've had the gear cover off once just to see what the gears looked like and see how much crap was getting in there but I'm newbee enough not to know what I was looking at. When you say square drive is that the shaft the gears are mounted on. If someone could expiain the differences it would greatly help this dumdum out. I could get away with a hundred bucks but two and she starts wondering. Yea I know whipped. What can I say. Thanks!!

It has the 4 pin setup (almost sure of it)... Look at the gear, surrounding the bolt/nut that hold them on, you see four little pins sticking through...

The other setup (square drive) you don't see those pins, and when you remove the gears from the shafts, the shafts are square.

sorry dude, you'll have to sprout the extra hundred like the rest of us... be glad you don't live overseas like some of us. I got the belt in, then realized I had to order the new plate and shafts... waited another 2 weeks for them as I stared at that pretty rubber belt :(

You can tell by the gears. Here's a visual...
