Has anyone bent their drive cups? Reason I ask is, when I hold one tire and spin the other clockwise, at one point in the same spot in each full revolution (even spining tire counterclockwise) the diff gets tighter and I have to use a little more strength to spin the tire through the revolution.

I took apart the diff and all gears are in perfect condition. The dog bone pins are all centered so they are not hanging up on anything either.

Are you centering your dogbones? they'll bind up if you're not...I noticed your other post about earplugs...put 1/2 (I use just a 1/16th" less than half) in diff cup and axle cup and do your centre shafts as well

Thanks MOO, no I haven't centered the bones or shafts yet. So, I guess this means the diff cups are most likely bent at the shaft because I didn't center the bones? They must just be bent a tad or so. I can't tell if they wobble when I spin them by hand.

mine are centered and still do that but only with the stock, longer shock shafts. my mt with shorter hpi shafts don't do that couse the dog bones are straighter

You're right, i forgot about the droop, I got phatdads and they're 5mm shorter so don't bind either...reminds me, I got to make another set of limiting straps for my TT
moo, I think you need to make about 15 sets of limiting straps... :D

i'll take a set... how much???

Krypt,

Are you using the stock rear rampage casings with HPI front inserts up front? Or are you using 4 HPI front shocks all around?

I'm using the complete set on the rear and inserts up front (in the Ramp rear housings). It's ok, I dremmelled the crap out of my arms though.

I had a similar situation and it wasn't a bent diff cup shaft. It was the "washer" that goes under the pin for the diff cup. One was warped a tad creating a "tight spot" and another just had a tiny bit of grit under it. More than likely I would say that may be the problem. I haven't seen these diff cups "bend yet, even the tempered ones. Snapping and shattering, oh yeah.
