I don't know if the KM chas
sis are too soft but the front of mines bent :(

I think it was when I came to a dead stop by flying into a hidden hole in the field I was bashing in. Replaced a few plastic parts before I saw everything was out of line, and had to take all the front end apart to find out why. May try to straighten it if I can find some engineers drawings with angles and measurements but I think it may a too far bent :(

mine was bent like that i got the mole grips and hammer to it and got the bend out, it don,t look bent to the side just up, easy fix mate,

Rory, this is a weak spot on the HPI chassis also. The Worx bumper with the under chassis guard/brace is a good upgrade, 6-8mm thick HDPE it takes a pounding. They are approx. £50 but well worth the money in my opinion.

alternativley you can make one from those plastic chopping boards you get from your local supermarket, ok they are white but are a cost effective solution. I'm consodering this option for my MCD RR V4,after I recently bent a lower wishbone hinge pin from racinf with the guysat Deeside.

Agree, this is what you'll be needing, this is on my KM. The front end will fit the HPI chassis but yours looks only to need it twisting back in a vice.
If you do go for a new chassis look at the Innovative one, £75 and have the side guards fitted to stop the debris getting in.

Once more, someone jumps in with "a real HPi one wouldn't do that" Well sorry, but ANY chassis will bend if you hit something hard enough. Fortunately the other posters provided more helpful advice

There are a lot of experienced guys on this forum who'll give you very good advice.
I don't have a 5B, but have a lot of experience with Integy parts on 1/8 and 1/10 scale - simply put, some are good, some are ... not !!
Choose carefully, even PM some of the others to ask their advice.

Sorry tonystott mate, can't see anyone jumping in with "a real hpi one wouldn't do that".

Rory has asked if the front end would fit a HPI chassis, the rest are giving strengh advice.

No, I saw it done on a forum before. Basically you mark out the shape you want then dremell/saw it out then mark your fixing points drill them out then mark where you want it to turn up at the front, put a bit of heat into the area and bend it up. Because it's a thermoplastic it will allow itself to be worked without causing any weak spots!

Or you could pickup some of this in 500mm x 500mm form and have enough material to make 3 or 4!

Rory, the chassis is fiddlesticked mate! belive me I know first hand(bent two).
The right hand side is stretched and the left creased,if you bend it back it will crab.

It doesn't matter weather its HPI,KM,Rovan,Innovative or any other brand chassis, these have a weak point in the kick-up! Do what Ian has done and get a brace and what Bigga said and get the bumper. Then it will be virtually bullet proof.
Zoni racing offer a T.I chassis but it comes at a price,£190.00.

i chopped end off chassis refitted welded a complete brace below past kink in chassis3/4 inch perimiter welded and spots (drilled holes) wont bend now!
