looking for the best mods for my new dunerunner i have the smaller rampage tune pipe and the 8000rpm clutch was thinking about the 990 carb let me know what you think. or any other mods in general for the car you can think of thanks!!!

Invest in a kill switch most of all.

You will need to upgrade the servos.

Better air filter.

i have the rear hpi adapters on it just need to get two more for the front now so i can get some paddles. what air filter do you suggest? whats wrong with the servos and the kill switch on it? anything i can do for major power upgrade at all? if so where can i get it? thanks again from the noob!

Better pipe. The Redcat pipe is junk. The Baja filter is the most common filter upgrade. The servos are junk, as well. It doesn't have a kill switch on it, it has a failsafe. Two completely different things. A failsafe doesn't kill the engine, a kill switch does.

You can get the kill switch from DDM. I'm assuming you're using the stock radio. If you get it from DDM, use the "HBF" discount code.

Killer RC v2 "Killer Bee" Failsafe / Soldered Kill Switch Combo (Optional Buzzer / LED)

Nobody really makes a pipe for the Dunerunner. But a few members have gotten some Baja pipes to fit. Mainly these. But I'm sure you can get a few others to fit.

cool thanks for the help guys. one last question, is the 990 carb a good mod for a stock engine with tune pipe and air filter and 8000 rpm clutch?

well took it out for a bash tonight and did a light side roll and cracked the differential housing... another thing is this thing idles really high and i can back the idle screw way out and it changes nothing. is this normal or is something messed up in the carb from the factory? so i guess before i go putting engine upgrades on iti guess i better beef up the front housing first! thanks everyone for you input and suggestions!

If you look up, "tuning carb redcat" there's a great video on How to tune the high and low speed needles. And for the 990 I highly recommend it! I just put mine on a couple days ago and it really gets rid of that off the line bog. They have accelerator pumps in them that really increases fuel on the bottom to mid range. It made mine A LOT faster off the line all they way to top end.

Yes my mistake. It's pretty much the same as the 813 WITHOUT an accelerator pump. Just in my opinion I'd take the 990 over the 813. You can get velocity stacks with chokes if your worried about that. Just my opinion I've tried both. I got more punch with my 990.

Just a heads up. The stack with the choke is only designed for on road. It leaks some air around the lever so dirt can get in after the filter.

It can be a pain do you guys run a 990 and have had the stack, choke? I'm just throwing out some options and info, from experience. Mine works fine there's ways to fix a little air leak that's pretty simple. Just trying to throw out all the options.
