Carb increase performance. Pipe adds more power. I would rather just rebuild a ported top end then to have the stock ported and polished but to me the new carb is a must.

After about 2 tanks of fuel the paper gasket on the jug let go- i was absolutely flogging this engine - with a W 990 - tall V stack -jetpro rear mount. listened to it go lean-hit the kill switch, no damage. I replaced the jug gasket with a DDM copper-#ca317. .012". this part MUST be trimmed to fit- no biggie, clean mating surfaces -spray 2 light coats of permatex coppercoat on the trimmed part- torque to 8-9 N/M. then added a short v-stack on the 990. I still have plenty of squish clearance - The engine now has a lot more off the bottom- mid revs- but lost a little on top- the jetpro rear is a rev pipe- like to try the DDM sidemount- might be a better choice for real world conditions- Oh- the stock jug gasket is .020". Now i am keeping an eye on the crankcase gasket- DDM has a steel-graphite matrix for a good price. Once ya pump a 2 bolt up the copper is a must for the jug- wot for 30-45+ seconds makes a lot of pressure-stress. $$ is tight at my household as it is for all 99%ers- lets see more lo dollar mods for our hobbie!!!

My reason for the copper jug gasket is cause it does not compress with torqued bolts. this is of paramount importance on a 2 bolt motor- a gasket that compresses can cause the jugs base to warp- and take the bore out of round- -- I am happy with the HY engines- its a shame they are so spendy-- $399.00 Redcat would sell more if they could drop the price. A obr superstock is a 4 bolt Zen for about the same amount of $$.

Carb, Air filter with stack, 8k rpm clutch spring, PIPE.... maybe even the belt drive or new gearing...
