So sorry.....

Dude,

That sucks, just read the post. Hate to be an "I told you so" guy, but this is why you never deal with postal money orders or checks on the internet. Paypal all the way! Yes, it sucks as the seller to have to pay the insane paypal fees, but guess what, it covers both parties in the event some crap like this happens. Even if you offered to cover the paypal fees, you would have spent like $12 more, but it was $12 for piece of mind.

Hope it works out - did you contact the authorities etc? I always wondered what happens when people got hosed online like this. Unfortunately I've seen it time and time again.

Well I was going to pay with paypal but then she's like I have all these paypal problems etc. so I said no problem I'll send a m.o. and then I just had a feeling she was shady after I sent it. Ya, contacted police, post office, filled out fraud complaint with fbi etc.. Just disgusted with the whole issue and have no ambition to make any more purchase's off rcu or rcgroups now. I am a seller/trader and I don't mind helping out others in the hobby but I am not here to be taken advantage of. Figured I'd put the word out so others know incase they come across her.. Who knows, ya know some people make a living off scamming others. Would rather people be safe than sorry. Thanks for the comments though, I appreciate it. It has made me change my mind about how I will conduct future buys, sales or trades though.

I know canada post takes a dim view on internet scams if you use a postal money order and get involved. the gov't doesn't like people stealing and cutting into their business

Could be pipeous, this is what I am saying, it's getting harder to trust people now. I don't know if rcu alerts paypal if they find out someone is a scammer either. I just may have to give paypal a tip on johnson though, hoping they'd shut down her account.

@Pipeous - I couldn't resist, I responded to the seller, can't wait to see his response. I say we have fun with the scammer :)

Just for the record' I have never had a paypal issue yet. Anyways this girl is too pretty to go to jail, (her words not mine, haha) and has contacted me telling me that she will ship my truggy later today. So I hope that is the case and I can let drop the issue. Anyways everyone have a nice New Year! Just remember to voice your issue if your haven a problem and take the proper steps to solving the issue. May god be with you all. Have a good one.

never been scammed using paypal, though some tried and I filed a dispute. trades have gotten me... one deal I got scammed $1100 and never got anywhere. I tried for almost 2 yrs. Even had an insider at RCMP to help. FBI Internet scam division won't do anything unless it's 10 grand or over cuz they get so many complaints.

paypal or credit card. then you are covered. canada post has treated me well. I shipped a boat to a guy that got damaged in transit. the cost to fix was higher than what I insured it for. I sent the guy a money order to fix it. I made a claim to canada post. they called, we talked and they saw I ship a lot of stuff and was my first ever claim. they actually sent me the full amount to reimburse the money order!! I was impressed.

RCU is one of the worst places for transactions, I got screwed on a deal when the seller failed to hold his obligation, even though it was there in the "Make a deal box" to make matters worse the truck was NOT as described. I won't "buy" there any more. Got to be leary of the join date and low/No feedback.

Ebay, Paypal, Credit card. Ive still got burned a few times on ebay but when looking at the whole I still saved money vs. buying somewhere else.

to be fair to this guy, I went and checked his profile and he has a lot of rc''s and stuff in pictures with himself, and even the truck he is selling is in those pics... I just see zero feedback and think, here's another one

on rcu, if I am trading, that person better have a higher feedback than myself, or they ship to me first. I didn't put that in one add, but had said so in an email to the person I was trading. I knew something was up when he had shipped then started panicking about me shipping my stuff to him since it was obvious my stuff was coming. I got this marder. radio was dead, servos both fried. he'd hit a curb full out and busted the body in half, the chassis looked like a banana. he says ok ship it back then... um you are paying to ship this POS back, not me. I couldn't believe he tried to pull that off. he bought me a new chassis and body instead, I shipped him 2 of the 3 rc's (one to pay to replace the dead radio and rhino servos, and odd part that was broken and I'd find as I stripped it. and there were many. crazy glued things together. hindsight I should have just shipped it back collect.

my bud was shipped a box with a dead computer power supply. they had a tracking number and it showed about a reasonable size and weight.

I have only bought one thing off rcu in the last couple so years. I sell stuff there but don't look to buy. ebay or just buy new from suppliers. and if you buy from the same guys (like Rob who runs the forum) regular, you'll find you end up getting deals you hadn't even planned on just for supporting them. Vancouver Hobbies treats me awesome. He sells Redcat and Nutech. I know different brand but I get parts for both from him. and I have Redcat steering setup to go on my Nutech.... so whatever. Point is, support these guys if you like the model. Then we all have parts when we need them... just wanted to add. They have to invest a lot of money to make it possible for this.

Ya, pretty much anytime you have to consider there is something wrong with the rc no matter what the seller tells you. A lot of inexperienced people or others trying to get something for nothing.. What I see as true lazyness is the person who doesn't even bother to clean the rc before shipping. I am happy that I don't have to deal with the other site's much longer. I don't going to the site's for good info but as far as trading and selling I think it's best to not even bother. Well I am still waiting for this truggy and the chick is completely dense when it comes to communication. I've already have made 2 transactions since then and received shipping from those, that's why I see this as nonsense when she boasts about 2day express shipping etc.. What a crock. If I don't get the truck soon, will tell the cops to go ahead and press charges on her for signing the usps money order and failing to ship my item.

I hate crooks. I just don't buy much used at all anymore. I worked hard at earning my reputation as a seller. I can't agree more on cleaning rc's (being an auto detailer I know the value goes up when it's cleaned too). Be honest when something doesn't work. and ship right away. I've had friend's ask me to sell stuff for them. I will only do that if they bring it here and drop it off. I don't want to keep people waiting.

and I am lucky. I have accounts all over the place. I can order crap, they ship it to me and I pay when I can. Be it rc, or detailing stuff. Just paid off the car brite supply guy yesterday. with the internet nowadays, you get labelled as a scammer or don't pay the bills, word gets around fast.

I hope this chick gets her head out of her butt soon and does the right thing. it's just silly.

I think keeping the car clean is just as cool as driving it. I hope people in general get it together and realize they have responsibilities. I don't buy much used stuff either on the net but If there is something I want it shouldn't be such a hassle to get it especially if I purchased it. People should be more honest and tell you if there is problems with whatever they are trading or selling as well. A lot of us do work hard to get a nice reputation dealing with other people and it shouldn't be destroyed by such ignorance. I don't think people should have to be scared of making a purchase either. It sucks that the internet has gotten out of hand. It was made for sharing information, not stealing people's money or screwing them over etc. I always try to be honest with people I am dealing with during a transaction. I know I want them to be honest with me when I am making a purchase, trade etc. I think the best thing to do is make the person feel comfortable and not pressure them into anything they don't want. I'd rather them ask me question's if need be rather then get something and not understand how it works.

Hope you get what ya paid for. Rcu is a gamble, but like someone said i wont trade with anyone with lower feedback then mine or ship first for sure. I just recently got screwed over on there and there is nothing I can do I tried. People whorip other's off are worthless. Get a job and buy your stuff and grrrr sorry hits a nerve.

Lost a bl revo there. Its last time I even go to look there. Not worth it. To me, so far, it seems 1/5 there is alot folks with integrity and men/women of there word. Cost's alot more to do so prolly keeps the kiddies and thieves away?

I got the truggy awhile ago, sorry have been doing a lot of stuff and kind of forgot about this thread. Anyways I will never do business with her again thats for sure and she wont be doing business on rcu anymore. I had to pay for shipping which was not part of the deal, also she put the truggy upside down in a huge box with no packing material and it was filthy. I was happy to get the truck but never again will I deal with her bs. I just don't want other people to have to go through the same nonsense. Not enough time in the day to deal with that crap especially if you work. Thanks guys, just be careful who ya trade with or purchase off of.

Cool angry im glad to hear you finally got what you paid for, it sucks that you had to invest so much of your time and hassle doing so though.

Once something like that happens to someone, there should be a way to flag and ban the sellers from ever doing business on "any" forum again! But I guess that would only happen in a perfect world....
