Big bore piston

I put a big bore kit on my cycle 26cc engine. I also put a 2mm stroker crank in it. My question is after 3 tanks of gas o pulled it apart because I blew the head gasket and I noticed the little nub in the piston ring groove is missing is it ok to run it without it.

Don't run without it. Also, break the engine down and look for it. You don't want something like that bouncing around in there.

Thanks that's what I thought. I thought that little nub was molded in to the piston.
