Im getting ready to install my Zen23 into my onroad car but would like to know which spring should I use on my clutch, the stock 6000 rpm (black) or the 8000 rpm (red)? This will be a topspeed car not a racer. Im running 10 compound tires on the rear. Wouldnt the red create to much torque and break the tires loose making it harder to launch?

The black as you said engages @ 6000RPM and the red, even though it says it engages @ 8000RPM actually starts to engage @ 7000RPM but fully engages @ 8000RPM.So I think the red is out of the equation if your too hard on the throttle.

I would think you would want softer engagement of the clutch...using the black spring
With the red spring used..on/off throttle hard bliming the throttle...on/off..on/off
many time will cause the spring to get stressed and break.....Been there done that
3 or 4 times.....learned to ease the trigger & use the black spring....less wheel spin
as well........more power to the ground...just my opinion...slawhammer

the earlier it engages, the longer it takes to get to top speed. and as far as the red hpi 8000 stall spring goes, they claim 8000 engagement and 10,000 lock up, whis in my testing is off, it engages sooner and locks up sooner than claimed.

Just a thought (dangerous I know!!)
Surely the stronger red spring is pulling the shoes away from the surface, so the actual drive force is less than the normal one?
Centrifugal (or lack of centripetal) force throws the shoes out onto the contact surface, but a weaker sprung shoe will engage harder, surely?

the harder spring keeps the clutch from engaging until a higher rpm. I prefer a softer engagement for on road so you don't have wheel spin. I like the red spring in my heavier off roads
