As you know i've just acquired a HPI Baja off Ebay :cool2: , well its been 2 weeks and the weathers been too bad to take out for my maiden run.

Today was the best its been for some time so i decided to have a quick run out, just to compare with my trusted FG.

Started first time (tick over a bit high, prob due to the 813 card needing a tune), started easy for a couple of mins then gave it some throttle, just i thought carb needs setting as it bogged a bit, done 3 up and downs on the grass with a big grin on my face then i had no steering, brake and throttle ok.
The steering servo seemed to be jammed so thought we'd get back and take a look in the man cave, only to discover the bleedin brake/throttle also jammed.

Took them off to test on another car and nothin, stripped down to find the Brake servo mashed up in side and a piece of plastic in side the steering servo had broken off and jammed in the gears causing the motor to burn out.

I've had to buy more than i originally thought.
New TX/RX: £66
New battery: £22
New Front Shock Shaft: £18
New Brake Pins: £5
now i need 2 bloody servos, prob £100 worth.

:(:(:(:(:(:(

sounds like the guy you got it from used it fairly hard, and a.) either didnt know the servo issues or b.) and more likely, didnt care and didnt say anything about it to make a sale.

Its the only downside to buying used is you have to rely on the honesty of the seller being forthcoming with ALL the info.

Spot on there timmahh, he said he'll go halves on the shock shafts but still waitin for the £10 he said he'll refund me.
He'll be getting neg feedback if i don't get it soon.

well it Sounds as if hes not trying to be shady. seem most baja guys are pretty stright up guys. Large Scalers ingeneral, atleast around here in my experience, seem more inclined to be more true/honest folks than you find in most other rc geners. weird kinda.

servos is an electronic item. in my 43 yrs of life, i have found one thing being consistant where electronic items are concerned. They ALWAYS boil down to you get what you pay for with them.
kind of the wrinkle in the faberic so to speak

sorry to here about your bad luck bud :no: finished my steerin servo case off today aswell bud (mountin lugs are all snapped now) and lost the throttle servo arm screw :clown: so got some phonin round to do tomora now :clown:

Too bad your outing ended sooner than you expected.

If you need a steering servo, shoot me a PM, I got one.

Cheers for the offer Chris, very generous, i couldn't expect to be sent something so costly for nothing.
The seller is going to refund me £45 as a good will gesture, i think its because i put in a dispute with ebay and asked to be imbursed £45 or a full refund.
Anyway he sounds a decent bloke so hopefully i can get back bashing with the HPI.

Need to decide which 2 servos to go for now:
HPI SFL-10 and SF-4 again or
Hitec HS-5745MG and HS-645MG or
Multi Digi 4 and HS-645MG

Personally, I'd go with the Hitec as I have had them in all of my cars and they work a treat. I heard a good deal of great things about the Rhino Multi digi, people just rave about them. The HPI would be my last choice. I got both the original and the upgraded new one that came with the SS, but never bothered running it as I put the Hitec as soon as i got the car.

Chris

Thats it then , hitecs they are.
There's a guy on baja.forum selling both hpi steering and brake servos for £40 (used), but i think i'll stick with the plan as i'll get a warranty with new ones.
Need to go source some now.

Cheers guys
Ian
