BEFORE I became a regular reader of this site, I purchased the much maligned double boost bottles.

I'm still informed that the greater the number of enhancements made to my truck, the greater the effect (supposedly meaning INCREASE) in power.

1 day after I fitted my DDM high end Dominator, I fitted a K&N-style conical filter (don't do much dust / dirt / deep grass work so won't be a problem), and my truck's pulling wheelies, almost on demand, WOW!!

Along come the boost bottles, with all the claims.
I ensure EVERYTHING is lined up as very best as possible, so as not to compromise the airflow.

When I fire up, the engine's 'gurgling and popping', obviously very rich.

The settings are the same as before, being perhaps 1/4 out (rich) on the 1.25 / 1.375 'factory settings'.
I've closed in to just out on factory, and it's still popping, despite a new Iridium plug.

My ignorant hunch is that this hopup is a POS!!
Can anyone seriously disclaim this? !!!!! :(

Easy one Atom......NO!...they are a waste of money. I asked a question in the engine thread....see , "Boost bottles , myth or reality" That should put your mind at ease.

My apologies gents. I consider myself 'moderated' !!
I hate being ripped off.

It was pretty darned obvious when I had to start leaning and leaning off, just to try and get a smooth flow, that something's not right.

If power's up, then consumption should go up accordingly in some respect, which SHOULD mean I should open / screw out / enrichen the fuel.

It was sputtering and starting to soot even a new Iridium plug - not on!

The offending device has been removed.
I will doubtless have to readjust the carb slightly - had to unscrew the idle as that was high ...

Hopefully I'll have the fire-breathing behemoth again!

Don't get me wrong, it wasn't much slower, but it was obviously slower than 'just before' and I couldn't lift the nose up - which we all like to see in a MT !!

Ho! Ho!
I think I shall calm my new-found enthusiasm, and make more research on prospective 'devices' before purchase and installation!
Basically break a male prerogative, and read before acting!!

I HAVE been known to ask for directions in the past - now I've got the satnav, so it doesn't have to be that obvious!

Corner markers?
The amount of energy I would like to use on these items would make them disappear - any chance of using your reactor? !! :)

I had a reply from 'the suppliers' basically saying that there's NOTHING WRONG only that my truck needs tuning properly - we'll see!

I did take the 'offending items' off, and without much ado, fired her up, and WAAHEEEEEEE !!!!!!!!!
We have take off again, with wheelies or near wheelies - nearly got there, but I broke the Caridinal Sin in my haste to free me of the bottles - I fired up and started blasting without a full bolt check - one freed itself and got stuck UNDER THE DIFF !!
All has been dismantled, removed, cleaned, replaced again without problem - I like this truck !!

I tink I'll be tankfull for small Murphy's !!
It seems to be nicely just-out-of-control fast.

I'll leave the engine until next year, when I MIGHT look at 27.2 or 30.5. ... !!

Basically if it's going so well, relatively - was told had 'only been run 6 times' (whether it meant 6 x 10 minutes, 6 x tankfulls or 6 x entire afternoons I've no idea) - then I don't want to play with the engine.

Having said that, I have ordered an 813 carb, so I'll see if the 'better initial pickup' bit is right!!

I've just got an 813 to go on my MT. I've collected all the alloy parts i need now(well nearly) so I will be doing a thread on an alloy re-build in the near future.Good luck with the car.

waste of money the boost bottles and if you do get them to run, it will cause a lean run, witch can give you the false felling wow more power.

with the 813 carb for sand and dirt running just becareful, i know you said you don't run in dirst and sand, but this is worth a read.

wt-813 carb warning

https://www.largescaleforums.com/showthread.php?t=5398n.

good carb i use one in my boat as the boat don't run in dust, sand and dirt :boat:

i have tested the boost bottles myself and i will say this. if you are running a stock 26cc motor then it will make a bit of a diffrence. but if you have a ported engine DO NOT RUN THEM.

When I put them on, it was obviously way too rich, sputtering badly.
I was already warned that the 32:1 ratio I'm using is bordering on the oil lean, and to richen slightly and/or change to 25:1.

I removed them as my thoughts were that if I was already lean in the oil department, then leaning off in the search of the 'best compromise' mixture made me think of imminent disaster; better to return to the safer status quo.

Once I'm more comfortable with the 2-stroke large scales, I may return again and have another go ... I certainly can't put them on FleaBay with a clear conscience!! :(
