Replace that spring with a piece of fuel line and you'll have better brakes.
You'll probably have to adjust the linkage after you do.

My breaks work perfect in my chimera what I did was replace the two set screws with two screws that were a little bit longer and loctited them it removed the slop in the pads and I used fuel line on the linkage instead of the spring stops on a dime
