brakes locking up

my truck will roll with throttle on but will lock up the brakes when i let off trigger .. is there any idea where the stops should be or how much throw it should have .. i will try to post a pic here in a few hours

Are you referring to the linkage stops or the brake pad adjustment screws?

The adjustment screws don't need to be out to far. I believe about 1/2 the length of the grub screws at the most. If they spin freely when not applied they should be ok. You might need to adjust the stops on the throttle linkage also.

The linkage stops are very easy to set.

First make sure your servo is centered. Do this by turning on the TX & RX. Have trims at zero.

Now make sure the servo horn is centered. It should be perpendicular to the servo.

Now loosen up the linkage stops, servo should still be centered. The carb should be at rest. The brake should also be at rest with no pressure. Full throttle should just be at where the carb lever stops. The brake also. Remember you can fine tune after setting the stops with the trim on the radio.

i still cant get it to work .. it eigther locks up brakes at idle or at full throttle .. grrrr ..

Here is a pic of one of mine. Linkages are crossed to clear the air filter so yours might not be. You can see I leave a little slack on the brakes.

I've had two problems with my brakes causing the same thing, #one if the grub screws for adjustment are out too far applying the brakes forces the brake cam beyond its flat spot jamming it against the metal spacers. Unfortunately this two second adjustment requires removing the motor etc. #two when I gave throttle the brake arm dangling about would move back and bind with the linkage applying the brakes when you release the throttle?? So I added a second capture nut on the end of the linkage to restrict the arms erratic movement, after that a little tweaking and adjustment and it works perfect...

Also it was hard to figure what was happening unti I ran it on the bench right in front of me to see what was going on. Hope that helps.
