 I have a brand new fg monster truck. I have a hitec 645 servo for the brake / throttle. I try it and i found that i have a low braking ! i try to ajust it to give the best stopping but i cant block the rear.

What i can do to help me braking power ? or setup ?

Thanks
DAn

Have you tried to unscrew the brake collar and move it forward a few mm on the throttle linkage? This will give you a better brake. You can also check your EPA on you remote for the braking. If the EPA is set to low on the brake the servo will not be able to push the servo arm as far back as required for giving you a good brake.

With that servo you will need to set the brake up to bite right away. Make sure when you are in natural it is just off the pad. You really need a big torque servo for stock FG brakes. You can also check to see if adjusting or adding a grub screw int he plastic gear plate will help adjust the front brake disk too.

If you haven't then upgrade to an alloy radio / servo plate - better mounting.
Sometimes there's too much 'nitro fuel tubing' on the rear brake - you can cut that down a bit as if badly adjusted, the brakes may not bite at all.

As BtB says, a high-power servo is also required. I like the Savox 1256TG - 20kg cm at 6V. ~£50
More? +50% in price, the Hitec 5955TG for £75.
More? Airtronics Monster Torque - 423 oz in at 6V.

There's plenty of choice.

I have the same servo for rear brake as you mate and standard rear brake, all I needed to do was upgrade my radio plate like atom says and now I can lock the rear brakes with ease.

in my opinion no matter what you do or how you set it up that servo does not have the torque to yank those brakes hard enough. I started with one of them, then went to a cheapo towerpro 996mg which was better now on a slightly more expensive (compared to the towerpro) blubird and i can lock the rears on any surface. im still runing standard radio tray and standard brake system.

prolly the easiest and cheapest way to get more braking, its still not going to stop like a nitro or elec but will improve a fair bit.

next step would be getting a front mech. brake kit but their pretty expensive and the MT is just a basher.

also do what the others have said and take up as much slack as you can on the brake rod, that will also help.

You do not have to change servo just to get decent brakes. I can lock my rear brake with the stock servo without any problems. Just check your EPA and move the brake collar if necessary :)

well the stock servo has 9.6kg torque @ 6.0v, unless your rear brake is modified I cant see it having the strength to lock up in standard guise, correct me if im wrong, thats just what I think

I could lock mine up with ease mate, as said before just upgraded radio tray or you can add extra support, ie 2 alloy legs, and adjust all linkages so no slack.....

FG recommend a minimum 7-8kg servo for front cable brakes so the back brake should easy lock up with this. I have a hitec 645 mg for throttle, back brake and front cables & it works fine when the brakes are set up correctly. I was looking to change it for a higher torque 1 (was looking at the bluebird) but I think I will wait until it dies 1st! I just fell out with it cos of my runaway!!
The set up and adjustment of the brakes and linkages are definitely key to performance just as much as the servo power.

cool thats something to keep in mind. ive been thinking about alloy radio tray anyway.

on my mt no matter how I adjusted the linkages I couldnt get it to brake even half decent, but it might be like you say, too much flex in the radio tray, im still running the stock plastic radio tray.

Have you really checked your EPA on the radio? As mentioned before, the stock servo has no problems locking the rear wheels.

yeah im very careful with my EPA's and have them what I think is spot on, its not an issue with the bluebird servo anyway, excellent braking now (for a layshaft brake anyway) so ill leave it as is.
