Break in on new motor?

my brake in consists of running it rich for about 2 tanks. i don't red line it or keep it pinned for more then a few seconds, but other then that, im out to break stuff. thes mills last so long we get bored of them before they start to fail. not sure how much fuel a mill will take, but i get about 8 gallons before i ditch it, and it will still be running strong at 38:1 ratio
 
+1 on that info. I have tried different methods of break in over the years on stock engines, but lately I set the carb to factory settings and drive it like I stole it !! Letting it cool completely between tanks. Never had a problem. Took it apart to replace the stock junk base gasket with copper, and everything was perfect.
Use good oil, and clean air filter often. Just my experience.
