finally some that knows what they are talking about. The only thing I do when running a motor for the first time is start it let it run at idle to reach full temp. Shut it off let fully cool then do it again. You just want the ring to seat.Deluge said:Take a warm up lap and give it hell from there. Temp doesn't really matter, all engines have different peak temps. Some like running hotter than others. The color of the plug is what matters. When you get it warmed up, do a high speed run and kill the engine immediately. Don't let it idle. Then pull the plug out and check the color. Dark and wet is rich, dry and light is lean. You want to hit the middle, which is a brown paper bag color.
Yes that works.rev9fan1 said:so let me get this right do what gofast said?
Maybe they want to cover their ass? Who knows. But you don't have to baby these engines.rev9fan1 said:then y does it say break it in for like 4 hours only 1/4 throttle in the user manual?
You have to put a load on the ring in order for it to seat properly. Do some warm up laps and then drive it how you intend to drive it. Everybody has their methods, but this method has never failed me.rev9fan1 said:so let me get this right do what gofast said?
That's pretty common. The stock carbs are inconsistent. A 990 will solve your problem.rev9fan1 said:i hope so man cause i got it for a birthday present on the 23 and i haven't been able to run it since a week after that cause the carb is being poopy
