so i was out climbing some hills today and now my truck is in FWD only...lmao. my pass side back tire spins freely but the other side is still turning with the rest of the drive train. truck only has 1 gal of gas through it. u guys got any pointers on rebuilding one of these? any parts to stay away from. any upgraded parts?

If your going to tear into the diff, I would strongly recommend the aluminum diff case from 7075RC.

robn64 had a great vid, but he has pulled it down for some reason.

maybe next time on that...ordered about $300.00 worth of stuff for the truck yesterday. wife will shoot! lol. but that looks really nice

is there anybody that sell one complete? or whats the part number for the rebuild kit? all im finding is the front/rear one... im thinking they mean the one in the middle or am i wrong?...

Have you inspected the truck yet? It might just be a dog bone or cup. If it is the diff, you need to open up the case and inspect.

If you hold one side still and turn the other do you feel grinding?

its the cup shaft on the pass side. :) are they all the same? is this them? http://www.redcatracingshop.com/product-p/50031.htm
Yup that's the right part. Also, your shaft breakage (at the pin hole) is something common to running those big MT tires. What happens is you will start developing hairline fractures around the pinhole untill it just breaks. Back in the day we used to heat the shafts with a propane torch untill they turned blue around the pin hole. We did this because the shaft was extremely hard which caused it to be brittle. Try this after you replace the diff cups. They should last alot longer.

7075RC makes a diff case for the MT?

My Bad. For some reason I thought the truck was an XT. Sorry.

Guess when I hear diff issue my brain automatically thinks Xseries.

when i get my new ones, i wanna heat them up tell they turn blue, and just let them cool right? i thought i seen a video about this but i cant find it anymore.

diff cups should be here tomorrow. after tempering them how long do u guys normally go with without braking them? or have u not broke any after tempering them?..... Ive searched everywhere to see if there was an upgraded one, but no luck...is there anything else that can be done?

It's a female dog, for sure. The diff cup on the crown gear is easy, just take the gear off of the diff cup shaft and slide the pin out. The opposite diff cup is a bastard. There's a set screw on the side of the diff shell, pull that out. Take the gear off of the diff cup shaft to reveal the pin. The pin has to slide out of the hole that the set screw was in.
