Remove the butterfly screw and pull out the shaft. Be careful to get the detent spring and ball out also.
Then drill, tap and install 10/32 setscrews in the open holes where the shaft was so they don't allow dirt to come in and also to choke it manually.

i brought a tuned engineoff a racer with one that was dechocked, he took the innards out and put two grub screws into the holes which worked a treat, may have locktighted them in?
if you need to choke it after, take the filter off and plug the hole. i have a 990 which is chokeless and 668 and 603 on my cars but aint going to bother de choking them, i don't think it will make a huge noticable difference.

+1 ive got a 668 on the on road still choked but the bugs got a 990 and now ive got around the starting issue its a great carb in my honest opinion is the best all round carb ive got a older wt771 which is also worth a look and a great carb which has done 2 years in the bug but now its a spare and may get a rebuild and put back onto the 23cc oddie in the on road

I have always had 603 or 668 choked carbs mainly because I don't want any starting problems in winter and they are good carbs anyway. Things may have to change soon tho.........:D:D

even dechoking a choked carb wont be as good as a carb designed as a non choked carb as there inlet is a total different shape and more free flowing and smoother inlet than the choked version

yes, i took a picture of the 990 and 668 together, as ren said the inlet ids a diffent size and has a different angle for the flow

ren, i thought you was using one of those xing clone carbs from a kingmotor on your oddie/??lol and you decjhocked it with some chewed up kingsize rizlas

i wouldnt dirty my bug with crap like that mate but i have heard that they give a extra 500hp so you may want to get one for yours to go with your boost bollocks
