Hello guys, first post here, glad to be a member! Now on to the subject....

I have read numerous threads about the km x2 and still cant decide....Half of them are good like revos' thread and half of them say steer clear!I see a lot of problems with the diffs, diff gears, drive shaft pins, motor mount/center diff flexing and destroying pinions etc etc etc

I know all cars have their problems, this isn't my first circus,i owned in the past an hpi baja 5b,an fg sportline 535 and i have made a couple of cars of my own.I don't have a problem stripping down the car, lock tite everything and fill the diffs and socks. But that's as far as i am willing to go.I cant have a car that breaks constantly, burns motors etc

Also over here, the basic version of the car isn't that cheap...The price shipped to my door is 900$.So you see where i am going with this....

Where are you located?

I just checked the website and they have it listed for $1029...w/ 34cc engine and all of this stuff in aluminum:

  • 6061-T6 Billet alum rear shock tower X2-002R

  • 6061-T6 Billet alum front chassis brace L007
  • 6061-T6 Billet alum Differential mount-1 L008
  • 6061-T6 Billet alum Differential mount-2 L009
  • 6061-T6 Billet alum front upper chassis plate L010
  • 6061-T6 Billet alum Rear cage mount&fender brace and Hardware L012
  • 6061-T6 Billet alum Sway bar set L013
  • 6061-T6 Billet alum clutch housing L015

I am located in Greece and i will have the car shipped from uk,which comes for the basic version of the 30.5cc engine at 900$.I think the one you are speaking of is the deluxe version? That would be a couple of hundred $ more expensive

Is it hard to come by large scale RC's in Greece? One of the best builders in the world is from Greece. If you don't know him, look him up. Kostas Karakidis. Contact him, maybe he have a project someone did not pick up or cheap whatever. That is what I would do first, is for damn certain. His builds are awe inspiring and make most other builders look like poop.

Hey Thraser

the 1/5 scene is small in Greece.Everyone is into 1/10 and 1/8.We do have an hpi official distributor, that's where i got my 5b in the first place, but that's it.

I don't know mr karakidis in person but i am familiar with his work.Even though i like the cars he makes,i don't want an one off.I want something to have fun with and lots of spare parts availability.I have made my own 1/5 cars in the past,2 of them, but i sold them.Right now i am in the process of making a 4wd on road 1/4,but that's a long process....

I was looking into the x2 but i heard a lot of bad things from 50% of the owners and absolutely positive things from the rest 50% of them.....Which is confusing to say the least!

I don't think it is so odd. Its often the case with the, for a lack of a better term, knock off brands. They are not build to as tight specs as the high shelf brands and the QA is not as tight either, the material choices are often worse, even when it is aloys because not aloys are the same. To keep prices low they have to cut somewhere.

This does not mean that they are bad, but I think it means that peoples experience with them are binary. Either they work and work wonderfully or they are a piece of poop that rattle apart if you as much as look at them.

That said, Botajell a well known large scale youtuber have bought three of them and he speaks about them with praise. I think that is as good a reccomendation as they come. but I seem to remember that he did say that they are not beginners cars because you are going to have to be under the hood a lot more than you would a Losi, FG etc. Imagine being a beginner and getting a real "monday car" when you still do not have the know how or skills to sort things out yourself. It must be really frustrating. TBH I would probably look at FG's offerings in the same price bracket that you are willing to pay. My german RC pusher often have really good deals, take a look at this;

I cant wait to see pictures of your own project. If you have some of the ones you sold, I would love to see them. I think there are other builders at this site, there definately is some crazy modifiations here.

Thraser i don't mind being "under the hood",on the contrary,i like it.Setting up the car, checking everything, cleaning it,"lock tite" ing everywhere etc....What i hate,is to drop 900$ and after a weak or two,to have to order parts...I cant stand things wearing down or breaking when they shouldnt.A brand new engine for example or a brand new cvd....I had an fg and even though they are good cars, they are too "german".they lack spirit....I am considering a baja from km again, because after all those years of cloning, they are ok or maybe even more than ok.I am considering a 5t or 5sc....I just don't know if i will regret not getting a 4wd.....

Also i am considering about the dtt-7 from 30 degrees north....Made a post about it....

As for my own cars,i had hundred of photos, they must be somewhere,i just cant find them!I found a couple of them for reference....One is from a very early stage of my second car,the wooden ones are the sketches for the 1/4 and the supra next to the fg is the body i was working one and currently converting it to run 650 wheelbase

Do you model your own bodies? Clya, wood? How do you mold the final and what material?

Speaking of 30 north. I am eyeballing their buggy project. It looks freaking menacing. I want one. No release date yet tho. They are still working out the kinks.

I was stupid enough to use nothing bit a huge block of foam and some blueprints on the supra. All the work is done by eye and countless hours of measuring and marking!Next time for my skyline,i will use a 3d model spliced to pieces and filled with expanded foam. The final bodies are fiberglass.A simple plug and mold process after i have clear coated the model with epoxy does the trick.

Why isn't anyone talking about the 30n dtt?Is it some kind of secret??Or does it come straight from north korea?:p

No, not some kind of secret. There just isnt anyone who own one. I think because it looks to be a Losi 5ive T with a new hat. 30 degree make an almost indestructible body for that truck.

This on the other hand is just straight up dope hehe

I do hope they are going to make a heat wall or find a way to cool the throttle servo which they placed right behind the motor or its going to go up in flames and melt down into the bottom of the buggy after a rough race or bashing session. First hop up, fast Noctua industrial fan.

Edit. Will you look at that. Apparently their awesome 5ive body fit the KMx2

That buggy looks a-ma-zing!!!Even though i don't like buggies,i like this one!I agree with you about the servo.Fuel tank is gonna heat up too and hot fuel in the engine is not a good thing...That exhaust must at least be wrapped in high heat cloth, the one we wrap 1/1 car turbos and manifolds....

The price in general is good, but for me is a little expensive at the moment if you add shipping to it.That is if rcmodelz finaly become the european dealer for 30N or another distributor becomes available for them in the european union.

Mark 'Hoss' Sanders from rcmodelz is in close contact with 30n both about eu distribution and developing the buggy....That's at least what my sources say...

I feel you. I am very much a truggy and monstertruck guy. My only buggy is a little 1/20 that I think is great fun after I threw a way too big brushless motor in it. But this one just looks amazing, especially the body in the first vid. Which is the newest so I hope its either a hop up they make, or the style it will release with.

Both are true. I spoke to him. The first video is the final version, it was based on the experience gained from the other, which they had to cut up for better (any) airflow
