Should there be any throttle shaft play at all? My 668 has some side to side play in it

Most have a little bit of play. It is also common to see it look wet from fuel.

Yup, I usually replace the shafts and bushings when they reach .010" slop/play. I use a dial indicator on a stand to check for slop.

Yeah, they have little play in them. If they wear out too much, you'll get air leaks. As long as it's not excessive, you're fine.
