I pull mine apart (4 bubble screws and the 1 bottom screw) and put all the parts in a tub of petrol and clean it with a brush, blow down the holes with a straw or antenna tube then dry the bits off on the clear paper towel.
Thats about it mate.
 
i ll take it off, and let it soak in some straight gas for a few minutes and then use an old soft toothbrush to scrub it down.

if i have a carb that is acting up, intead of rebuilding it for 25.00, i just buy a new one at 35.00
