Alloys are Isotropic materials, where as Carbon fibre is anisotropic.
"The atoms slip over one another or distort in relation to one another more easily in some directions than others. This directionality of properties is what makes carbon fiber anisotropic. Carbon fiber composites take advantage of anisotropy by orienting fibers to achieve certain attributes."
By laying up the required layers at any or all of 0°, 45°, -45°, 90° options.
By laying up all the angles, Carbon fibre can be made to be quasi-isotropic, whilst maintaining a 50% weight advantage over 7075.
It can basically be anything you want it to be.

Note the Carbon fibre is considerably lighter, yet thick and stiffer than the alloy chassis.
How about a 1/8th chassis?

5mm Carbon Fibre chassis with a Glossy Twill layer, Vs 3mm 7075 chassis with CNC braces.
It's far stiffer, wider, stronger affording more space for batteries and ESC's, but with better weight distribution and much better drive line angles.

Vs

Having tried both, I know what I prefer in both cases.
