Couple of things on my XSC thats only been driven 4hrs at the maxx, #1 my carb wont stay adjusted seems it leans out even if i richen it. #2 my brother who has a BAJA and said if i take the hose off the bottom of the carb and plug it with my finger, the primer bulb should stay down, or come up really slow. It fails at that test, on top of which when i shut the carb off the primer bulb empties all the fuel out after like 5 min. and the car refuses to run afterwards. The stock carbs on these things arent walboro are they, because redcat is sending me a new carb for free under warrenty but my car was brand new in the box when i bought it so i don't see why anything would be an issue on something you pay 600 dollars for....

Check your carbs breather. There is a little steel plate in front of the carb on the top of the carb right behind the air filter. Blow it out with air make sure it`s not plugged with dirt, grasss ect. DDM has a filter for this it`s part # av493(you can look it up) it is a diaphram filter often neglected cuz folk`s don't know it is there.

thanks guys, i dunno if i have the money yet for a walboro but if redcat messes with my warranty then ill buy a new one. It will be the 990 too :-)

The stock carbs are Walbro clones, basically. Get a 990.

and i completely agree with getting the 990, but my question is if its a clone to the walboro there has to be a way to make it better....im not looking for speed just yet or power. Im looking for reliability and fun for now till i get used to using it. So what does the walboro have that this POS doesn't.

The stock carb is a RUI*ING mine was junk after a week no matter what i did it sucked ! I put on a 668 runs great all the time but I am putting on a 990 with my ESP kit, WHY u say because this hobby has turned me into an addicted wanna try something better LOL

Everybody has their own tuning method. That one is OK. Whichever method you choose, keep an eye on your plug color. That'll tell you how your engine is running.

what do ya know redcat sends me a carburetor with broken low speed and high speed needles, looks like im going with a walbro 990!

Bummer! Oh, well. Now you can stop messing with the stock junk. The 990 is a great replacement.
