ive been able to drive my truck lately that i recently took out of storage. it would run great...start first pull..... but after i would run for about 3-5 minutes the idle would be high one minute and low the next. today i tried to start it but it would just pop once then it would act like it was flooded....one time i got it started by the trigger at full throttle and it was pissing fuel out the jetpro. i have the carb at stock settings but i think it may have something to do with the low speed needle because it never bottoms out.....it just keeps turning. idk how this could have happened because i am always very careful when i tune and when i bottom it out to reset the carb. any help or suggestions on a carb to buy would be much appreciated. btw i did check spark and it is getting air and fuel.

If the needle screw keeps spinning, that's a problem in it self. You could back it out and inspect it. For me, I'm no carb expert so I'd throw it and replace it. A new Walbro 990 is about 40 buck at Gizmomotors.

I agree, if the needle screw keeps spinning the threads must be stripped out or something. If that's the case it may not be worth trying to repair.

i have no experience with a carb without a choke so i was wondering if u prefer it over the 668 or if u prefer the 668 because it has a choke. will it be harder to start?

Once it's tuned it starts just as easy. Some do not like being without a choke. The 990 performs a little bit better. The 668 suffers from a slight lag that the 990 does not. The 668 is a good reliable carb though.

I have the 990, and now with allum intake and velocity stack.

I also have the dt1 filter, it is mounted by a hose clamp.

I take off the filter, cover the intake with my hand for like 2 pulls.

It starts, and then I reinstall filter... runs great.

You can also cover the filter with a small plastic bag.
